To know about MATH-LAB

Hi
I met an engineering student.
His subject is Electrical and Electronics engineering.
On the study purpose he uses C++,visual C and MATH-LAB.
AND he said me MATH-LAB is the best that he used.
IS it alright?

I want to know about it because I have no good idea about MATH-LAB.
Can anybody help me???????:confused::help:
 
MatLab is used for prototyping, analytics and other system engineering tasks. It's got quite a learning curve, and it's a pain in the ass, but it's powerful.
 
It is MATLAB.. not MATH-LAB..

It is really shameful for me.
May be I mistook it to hear and then again do it here.

Yep, the student said perfect.
I think Matlab has some different extra features and made with exceptional code.
There are some codes here which can reduce a no of lines into just a code of word.
 
I do a lot of stuff for my real job in MATLAB. It's great for engineering and science. You can crunch huge data sets of numbers and process images in amazing ways.

It is not good for some things. It is not generally as fast as C or C++. It does not process text as well as Perl or PHP.

Basically you have to use the correct tool for the job at hand.
 
Matlab is great to process images, as far as i know. My partner's was using Matlab for final year project. It has a toolbox called neural network which you can train your application to recognize image, for e.g. car plate numbers. Maybe you can break captcha with Matlab if you're genius :)
 
Hehe, Matlab. It 's powerhouse for scientific modeling and you can even do fun stuff on it.

I once wanted to test if an online card game was really random or not. I got around 80.000 older game results (available on the site), mapped the possible bets on Excel, created the model with some funky non-linear optimization, linked Matlab with Excel, let it run for a while and wham.

It was random. :) (which was to be expected, since the house earns money by a percentage of winnings - it 's a betting exchange type card game).

Of course, since it was random, I never played again. :D

Well, he tried by checking if the numbers whatever are randomly distributed. As they unfortunately are, no reason at least to investigate further in that direction.
 
I have a friend who has a Meth-Lab he ain't no engineer but he makes loads of money and it's a good quality high but sometimes his lab's go boom!
 
I've seen the license plate recognition example. I was working something similar, cell segmentation.

With matlab you can easily crank through huge data sets.

I played around with a catchpa decoder but it really is not worth it. You can just use decatchpa.
 
Matlab is used for different things than C++, C#, Java, Python, PHP. You can't substitute a regular programming language with Matlab. What you use Matlab for is specific types of problems it is good for (e.g. image recognition). Matlab as opposed to the other languages is not just a language but an environment. It is also high-level as opposed to the others.

Actually, I tested if there is an optimal (daily/weekly/monthly) strategy(*) that gave good results over time. The fact that there was not, implied that the card game was not strongly biased.

(*) Given a set of realistic limitations, like non-infinite amount of cash to bet etc.
 
is matlab something you could find on a torrent? Looks interesting to fool around with.
 
Matlab is great for practical scientific applications. What do you want to use it for?
