to avoid reverification - removing the phone number

After I verify my account can I remove the phone number to avoid reverification? Someone said that this is all I have to do. Sounds like a good soloution if the account still remains phone verified after I remove the number.

I have lost many accounts because the seller of the codes were unable to reverify days/weeks later. Hopefully this will solve this problem and wont lose anyome accounts.
