To all scrapebox users,

I use the proxies that SB harvest for you (free ones)

It's a very good tool, especially considering the price. It's worth the $60 even just to use it as a proxy harvester/checker :) Of course, don't expect it to do the work by itself. You need to know how to use it. But if you do know, it will help you.

What I suggest is that you understand what it can do, play with the trial version and get intimate with it. Read the numerous posts around here. Think how it fits in your SEO strategy. If after that you're still unsure if it is a tool you need, then it probably won't help you as you don't know what to do with it.

SEO is like digging a hole in the ground. In order to know what tools you need, you have to know what kind of hole you need and where you need to dig it. Is it a deep hole, a large hole, a long but narrow ditch? Is the ground hard, muddy or is it sandy? Is it more efficient or cheaper to hire a few guys with shovels, or do you need a bulldozer to get the job done? Do you need a bulldozer as well as a shovel? Maybe a jackhammer? Do you start the work with the bulldozer, the shovel or with the jackhammer? Wait! What about some dynamite? No... that is to expensive and dangerous. There are houses around and kids playing. Just so you know, XRumer is a bit like dynamite.

So the question is not if scrapebox is good, but what you want to do. ScrapeBox is good as in it does what it says on the package. Whether it will help you rank #1 in Google is however a question about your skills not ScrapeBox. I can tell you as a fact that even for those that know well how to use ScrapeBox, this tool offers an advantage only to a certain point. Then that person's skills start to limit them. If they can't code to build their own scripts to complement ScrapeBox, it only takes them to a certain point. If they know how to code and are a bit smart/tenacious, like I am (and modest might I add ), ScrapeBox is just a tool that covers a part of the problem so they don't have to code it themselves and can just buy it and concentrate on the rest.

Regarding what you said about ScrapeBox being ineffective because the blogs are nofollow... it all comes to your skills. I was able to find over 500 **************** blogs, some with ScrapeBox some using other techniques. Those found with scrapebox were initially a list of over 30,000 URLs that I cut down to about 3,000 unique domains, that I then cut down to about 300 **************** blogs using my "Code-Fu" skills. Now all I have to do is "HardWork-Fu" - manual posting - which is not that fun as Script-Fu. So you see, while this is not a general rule, sometimes it is not the tool that is limited. It is the user.

All I can do is wish you the best of luck. Remember that if it's frustrating :frusty: it means you're on the right path. You just have to keep walking no matter what (insert Johnnie Walker logo here).

OMG madoctopus, you're really great at doing a scrapebox review. I really get it now. And i enjoyed how you put things like shovel, etc. hahaha. Thanks a lot for this. You're a big help!.

Although i got another question:

There's a trial version? O.O

There is no trial

No trial? That's... limiting :) So now I guess I have to tell you what it actually does. Ok, here it is. The no hype breakdown:

  1. It scrapes proxies from a bunch of sources. These are free proxies so most won't work. You get around 100 that work and sometimes they won't work when you scrape (see next point) because everybody uses them and they got blocked by Google, Yahoo, etc. Bottom line is: if you're going to be a heavy user of SB you have to buy some dedicated proxies (that are used just by you).
  2. It allows you to do searches on search engines and it returns the URLs from the results. Basically this is the 1st of 2 things it does. You can then do filter these by eliminating duplicates and checking each URL's or domain's PageRank. You can also save them, in a file or load them from a file. Just as you can with pretty much everything.
  3. The 2nd part of the 2 things it basically does is that it allows you to ping URLs or manually or automatically (mass mode) post comments on blogs. It supports content spinning so you can automatically have the comments randomized. By default it supports just the major blog platforms but you can teach it to handle others as well. It also does RSS pinging, trackback spam and link checking (see if a link is on a page - useful to check if reciprocal links are still there for example).
  4. It also has some plugins. They basically give it functionality it should have had by default :) Like checking blog post pages to see if they have captchas or what kind of platform the blog uses. There are others, but haven't really used them much because I have my own better scripts.
There are other details about it (would have been nice to have a demo) but this is what it all comes down to. This is at its core.

What is it used at: scraping links from SERPs and blog spaming (by most people) or finding blogs (lots of them) and then using other custom scripts to check which allows comments and is d0follow to post manually (by me and the minority).

Thank you so much madoctopus. Couldn't ask for more! You really pointed it out!

do we get the plugins when we buy sb or we have to buy them separately ?

all comes in preloaded - no more money, just download them from the scrapebox app.
best $60 I have ever spent ( aprt from that spainish prostitute, she let me do everything :P )

I just started using SB - I scraped about 1500 blogs, removed duplicate domains and then successfully posted to approx 300 blogs. I plan on doing this volume, frequency 1x / week / my site.

Do you think this is enough to add 50 - 60 backlinks / week / site ?

That's a good average

typically what is the success rate in having your posts accepted ? Say 300 successful posts according to sb, how many typically gets accepted 20% ?

Honestly, it depends on quite a few things.

1) Your comment, how well it applies to the blog post, whether you are able to convince the owner that it is a legit comment.
2) Proxies - Private proxies return better results, public ones are good to start off with, however you will not have VERY good results with solely public proxies.
3) Site types - Wordpress often has the lowest rate of accepted comments when using Scrapebox, BlogEngine and MoveableTypes return better results.
4) Your niche - Some might say it doesn't matter, however I believe if your not that great at comment creation; it does play a pretty big factor. I had an anime site that was able to return 8,000 backlinks after a few 5000+ successful comments submitted - I had a Dog related website that returned only 200 or so off 2000+ successful comment submissions.

Also to add to that are whether the blogs are auto approval, I'd say 20% is quite possible, I've experience results higher - you just need to put a little extra thought into it however.

There are too many variables in play to provide a useful or even close to fuzzily-accurate answer to that:
1 - quality, speed, and usage of your proxies
2 - quality and variety of your comments
3 - target platform
4 - quality of URL's harvested (good keyword matches)
5 - amount of cleaning done on the harvested list (e.g. alive check)

I'm sure there's some other variables I'm not thinking of, but there's 5 biggies.

peace - gregs.

Just get it. Every backlink is a backlink, so even if you have a 1% success rate, you're still gonna get a shitload of backlinks. I've had 30-40% success rate with say 20,000 backlinks, and a 1-2% success rate with 100,000 backlinks. Either way, it's a heap of backlinks you wouldn't have had without it.

I've bought lots of stuff on BHW and honestly SB is the only tool I regularly use. I have 2 sites that are currently ranked #1 for their respective keywords and I am getting around 400 visitors a day per site, so yeah, for me it is totally useful.

It has a number of useful features such as auto indexing, checking pagerank of sites, etc.

Just buy it, it is the one tool you will fall in love with.
