WordPress come with default settings. But for Better SEO, better functionality and for creating authority site , We need to do some changes in the default settings that will be listed below.

Reading settings.

Change it to Summary option for “For each article in a feed show”. This will make visitor come to your website. Also this would avoid people to steal the full content automatically.

Writing settings

Here you can choose your default post category. Which can be your main tagline for all your posts. Also you could update the mail id if you want to post the article .

Discussion Setting.

Remove the checkbox for the button “Automatically close comments on articles older than X days” Why don't we limit to stop User generated contents yourself.

Enable the checkbox of Comment must be manually approved. This would reduce the Spammed by automation.

Remove the checkbox “Comment author must be previously approved comment”. This check box Don't have any sense to me.

Permalinks settings

The General setting is. Plain Number for each article. Definitely this is no far SEO purpose and for human readability. I recommend you to change it to post name, so the URL will be reflected in your title of the article.

Settings → Permalinks and choose the “Post Name”. So the URL link like: site.com/post-name.

General Setting

Under general settings you can give you a website title and tagline for your websites. Also, you can specify whether. Your website URL should not have WWW or should have in the URL.

Giving New name to uncategorized category.

Generally, word press comes with default category as “uncategorised”. So all the posts. If you do not choose any category that will go under automatically on this Uncategorised category. Modifying this to our main keyword will help us to do in SEO.

Go to post. Choose categories. And. Find the edit. Button . Change the name of Uncategorized tag.

Creating the XML sitemap.

Google stated that XML sitemaps are the second most important source for finding URLs.

Generally, wordpress. does not come with Sitemap automatically. For that you need to. Download Some. SEO plugins like Yoast. SEO , SEO presser, Rank math SEO or Anything? From there, you can create the XML. Side Maps, once you created. Get the file name and submitted to Google Webmasters and Bing webmaster tools

Eliminating duplicate URL.

Every article , WordPress creates multiple instances of that post under various Elements such as category., Tags and under archive.. So each post will be Presented in various places. That will be. Consider it duplicate in terms of Search engine perspective.

So to avoid that We have to mark all these. Different elements as noindex or nofollow links, We cannot do this by basic plugins. May we have to get some SEO plugins called SEO pressure, or Rang Math SEO. From there you will find the options to mark all the categories. to no follow links are noindex links.

I hope all these tips will help atleast for a beginner. Comment here what are these tips you following and any other additions also great welcome for many people.
