A few months ago, I created a subreddit based on a discussion in the comments on another thread. It gained traction, with 1,000+ members joining. Initially, there was lots of traction and visits. However, now the subreddit is dead, with barely any visitors or posts. How do I kickstart it to life again, any ideas?

good luck, just keep posting consistently and engaging with comments
Thanks, will do. But was wondering, wouldn't it be odd if its only the mod posting and replying to comments mainly?

Post good content. That's the only way.

Use headlines that will gain traffic from Search Engines.

Might need some crosspost action.

You need an initial push for sure. Without that, it's not easy to grow. Build some accounts, keep posting trending topics, and have discussions. That's the way to go!

I think the hardest part is getting people to post again. I would probably start by posting something myself every few days and asking simple questions that are easy to reply to.If people see the subreddit is active again, they are more likely to join the conversation instead of just leaving.

Growing a subreddit is the easy part but keeping it active is the challenge. I'd start by posting yourself consistently, asking discussion-based questions, and encouraging members to share their experiences.
Cross-posting can also help bring people back if relevant content (where allowed) is posted and hosted weekly themed discussions.

Nowadays, active discussions matter more than member count, so focus on keeping conversations going.

Start by posting consistently yourself again. A dead subreddit usually needs 1–2 weeks of regular, high quality posts from the owner to restart activity.

Many subreddits die down without contiuous debates. Begin contribuing content on your own, pose questions that will elicit responses, and cross-post topics from other subreddits to reanimate discussion

Configure the descriptions and sidebars and so on with good keyword ratio. The internal recommendations system will do the magic for you. Also, comment on competitor subs but never mention your own. They'll click your profile and find your sub. Make sure your personal profile also has links to the sub.

Try to post regularly and start simple discussions. Once people see the consistent engegement again then they start joining the subreddit.

Start posting useful content again, ask simple questions, and encourage discussions. Invite active people who enjoy the topic. Consistent posting and good conversations usually bring members back over time.

I can understand your situation. This generally happens when the initial curiosity fades. You should try reviving that subreddit by posting consistent discussions, asking engaging questions, and cross-posting related content in similar active subreddits where it is allowed. In my opinion, once a few active users return, engagement usually picks up naturally again.

Post consistently, spark discussions with engaging questions, crosspost (where allowed), and encourage active members to contribute. A subreddit usually comes back to life when it has regular, quality activity rather than waiting for users to post first.
