So me and a couple friends made a little side project a year ago. A picture search engine for a specific niche.

Just did basic on page SEO and some social bookmarking, literally nothing other than that.

Last spring it suddenly started pulling in traffic, and has since grown to ~10k uniques/month (~40k pageviews), all on it's own.

Now working on some ways to monetize it non-obtrusively (to keep bounce rate low and pageviews up).

Problem is we have almost 0 text content. Our front page is very similar in look to Bing's. Don't want to ruin the design (which is really simple and nice-looking) by adding text on front page, it would not make any sense there. All landing pages are just photos.

Thinking of adding some internal pages with text covering our main keywords and linking to homepage and then backlinking the hell out of those internal pages.

Any other ideas? Best ways to rank a picture website? Also, we don't host any pictures, they're showing via a lightbox, but pulled from different websites.
