Free app monetization is a bit limited at the moment. As far as ads go, some networks pay more than others so just try different ones. In app purchases are are also vital to the FTP business model so get creative.

That's some decent profit but not so high for that amount of apps.
If you start advertising them you would earn much much more.

you can monetize your app through selling your ad space for showing ads.

I REALLY like your 'text pages with adsense' suggestion. How are you implementing that? Doesnt you app pull up a browser to show the web page. Dont think its possible in my engine to provide a seamless experience. You're getting webpages with clickable ads to show inside an app? (if so what framework are you using?)
