Tips on Growing a Twitter Account?

I have had a Twitter Account for 2 days now.
I have followed a total of 400 people and got 80 back so far.

Any other tips on growing a Twitter account?
I don't want to buy fake followers since
" What good is an interesting message if no one hears it? "

Also, I asked on other forums and people most of the time gave me the advice to buy followers or an account...

I want to grow one myself since I think that would be teaching me some stuff
