Can someone give me some tips for Yelp?

My business yelp page has dropped in ranking when I search my keyword on their site from position 3 to position 24. I've had a few customers in the area of where the business is write a review on yelp for it and the reviews get filtered out. They have aged accounts, reviews for other businesses that are sticking, but for my business they get filtered. What is the deal?

The weird thing is it didn't start dropping until yelp starting calling me. They're trying to sell my some some type of business advertising. The lady claims they have no control over reviews being filtered out, its just based on their algorithm.

Yelps totally doing a lot of manipulation and suing these days. If you are interested in swapping some review PM me. I wish I could say they would get posted but I have no idea. They are killing a client with a outright lie they are propagating and told him they could bury it....for 3K a month! Sounds like extortion to me.

Yelp is definitely doing a lot of manipulation. Not sure if this has any connection but since they've been calling me and I was ignoring them, my ranking dropped a bit in the yelp search, and all my reviews started to get filtered. So I finally started picking up their calls, and things are changing.
I'm going to drag the calls out for a bit, and then tell them I'm not interested to see what happens. Right now they're telling me if I go with one of their packages, any keyword related to my niche that is searched in yelp I will pop up first.

$1,550/mo - includes 4,200 targeted ads per month
$1050/mo - includes 2,700 targeted ads per month
$800/mo - includes 1,925 targeted ads per month
$550/mo - includes 1,100 targeted ads per month
$350/mo - includes 450 targeted ads per month

Yelp always bullies people around. There are plenty of horror stories about them. A lot even claim yelp submits fake reviews to people who don't get one of their packages when they call. My advice is to stay away from them.

I'm actually amazed at this thread. Not that I think Yelp is something great, but I didn't realize that their business model was "pay or pay the price...either way, you pay". That's actually sad.

very true, if you take up their service you will suddenly see improvements in the rankings though

You should ask your customers to post real and good reviews on your yelp page also try to get away from fake reviews because after the Google Vince update fake reviews are not doing well.
