Hi all,

I've just launched a new website and I'd like some tips for ranking for just the brand name/business name for now. So I can say "hey my business is called this Blue Widget Examples" and they'll type that into Google and hey there it is my website #1! So far I've thought of...

1. An exact matching domain BlueWidgetExamples.com....obviously(duh)....
2. Google plus brand page pointing to my website
3. Brand name as owner in WHOIS information on domain

What else can I do? Create a few web 2.0s about my brand with some links?

Thanks! :-)

Create good content before starting link building.

Once you have some content on the site the site should naturally rank for its own name unless it's a commonly used keyword with search volume and SEO competition.

Develop a very strong USP and stick to it in your content/link building.

I had some small success by doing some local SEO (specially written pages for Google Places/My Business), then some targeted Facebook posts for that geographic location.

Add tons of high quality contents around the main keyword and it's hundreds of LSIs.

Don't over optimize! Google is on to us.

When writing for a keyword, keep the density down to 1%.

Google seems to be ranking pages with keywords groups that go with one another. If someone was looking for "Proctologist School", Google understands that person may interested in learning a new profession and will rank articles with the keywords, "Proctologist School", "Proctologist salary", and "Proctologist career" higher then an article from a site named ProctologistSchoolWow about finding the best "Proctologist School".

Relevance seems to be the new game.

Be very careful with PBN links. Google is spending a lot of money figuring out how to spot them and will slap pages and sites that use them. There are people who will say it's all BS and PBNs are ok, but be careful if you are looking to build a page for the long term.

Depends how popular your brand name is, if its unique to you then you can just rank because of your domain name. Otherwise, treat it just like any other keyword.

Before starting the link building prepare a high quality content for the main keyword...that helps you to improve your result.
