tips for a good flippa site buy

so i'm considering buying some websites on flippa. i'm looking for sites geared towards the dating niche.

now i know their are a lot of numbers that can be skewed (fake vistitors, rankings, etc.) that would make the site more appealing and valuable, when in fact it's not.

i'm not looking for a full turnkey site....i'm more looking for a decent site that is aged a bit that i can start ranking with SEO.

what are some tips and things i need to watch out for to make sure i dont get screwed over?

Check the traffic ranking in Alexa and several other websites. They can usually tell you what country most of the traffic is coming from. If the Traffic is all coming from Asian countries, you know that site is probably not for you (unless you specifically are targeting Asian Countries).

Check the backlinks in Yahoo Site Explorer. Do they look permanent?

Take some of the content and copy/paste it into Google. Do any other sites come up when you search for the content?

I guess those tips are better than nothing.

I was told in a Webinar, the first tip to buying a site from flippa is;

Don't Buy a Site From Flippa.

No lie. The truth is, flippa is a sellers market these days. Typically the buyers are newbies or veterans that know when they see a deal.

One trick is to find a site on flippa that you like and clone it, not an exact clone but a better clone. Research the original site and target for the same keywords.

Another trick is to find a niche you like, do a google search and go to page #2. Find a site that looks kind of shitty and has only got to that rank by sheer luck. Contact the site owner and mention that you would like to buy him out. Throw an offer that you would be willing to pay for the site (consider the niche). Buy the site, update the SEO and chuck backlinks at it.

One other trick, if there is a newer site for sale on flippa built on WP, ask the seller to sell you a clone (wptwin clone) of the site. You can get a great deal, all you have to do is buy a similar domain and edit your new site to make it unique. Some sellers are willing to do this private deal as it is extra money in their pocket. But some may get upset that you even asked... (I had a few get a little mad at me) But I have also bought a few nice clones

the only reason i would buy from flippa is to get an aged domain. i don't care about the design because i can make a nice design. i don't care about the content because i can just buy content. and i dont care about the SEO because i would be doing my own SEO.

the only reason i would want an aged domain because i know it's easier to rank. if i'm just looking for an aged domain and not much else where should i go if not flippa?

Could be good for an aged domain, but I use Flippa for research purposes. What type of sites are making money. What keywords are making money. I like to make sites that I will be able to sell if I get bored with them, so I go to Flippa for inspiration.

Flippa is good for coming up with possible niche ideas. Everything I ever look at there seems to be grossly over-priced.

how can i tell if a domain is sandboxed or has the google slap?

any other tips like should i care if the domain name has a dash or other characters in it?
