When you say "can connect to google chrome", do you mean Chrome Extension?
If yes, your VPS will need some operating system with a desktop, but most of VPS are sharing IP with others and are often using "known" datacenter IP addresses that will likely get you flagged/banned, so you should also use a quality VPN or Proxy.
If you're doing this just for your own account, you should run it on your own machine so you'll have your own IP and less chance to get banned.
