Timing likes & comments after posting

I can't seem to get a clear answer, so what's the consensus here?

Is it more beneficial for someone - be it a large account, or a "normal" account - to like / comment on your photo as soon as it's posted? Or does it matter?

Does a like / comment from a large account carry as much weight when given six hours after posing, as opposed to within a few minutes of posting? 2 days after posting, etc., etc., etc.

What's the generally accepted window, if one exists?

I am currently working on a new theory of how IG works, and so far so good. But everyone else here knows more than me. They will say timing is everything because one guy said it. But I now believe timing doesn't matter.

But be careful on this board and do your own testing. Everyone here boasts about followers but nobody boasts about money, that's because nobody is making any money here, or at least not real money. And the old saying is don't listen to anyone who has less money than you..lol.

also if a bigger account is liking your stuff its better to do it when they first post so your and their followers can see it.
regardless I don't think it matters what the timing is on liking but commenting could be a whole different story.

What is the principles of your idea?

My "best" account I'm currently monetizing at 100$+ pr post at 10k followers, and it have scored me an offline contract as well. I'm also earning from managing accounts. How are you doing money wise?

With the new buzz word powerlike, it actually shouldn't matter, even that people say it should be within the first 15 minutes. It shouldn't matter, as the idea behind the powerlike, is that the account like your photo and only your photo, so it will appear on the activity feed of their followers. Somebody in here like @VapeMonkey must have experimented with this to see the effects of timing. I guess the timing is important to hit the explore page.

the explore page makes sense because if a big account likes it when all the other accounts are liking it so about 20-30min in then ig will think "oh a big account liked and commented on this it must be good then they run their always changing algo then boom explore page.
as for commenting I personally find those more useful that likes like if a big account said ll either like or comment pick one I would say comment because its shows that a big account is engaging with your account ie the smaller account so it would only make sense ive seen this happen many times with videos.

Well, if you are making $100 per post with 10K followers, then you don't need to listen to me.

For everyone else, my method is very similar to what everyone is doing, except they are doing it for the wrong reasons, so they are missing a few key opportunities. For example, getting powerlikes is correct, but it has nothing to do with other people seeing what that account did.

Same with follow/unfollow, it works but people are doing it for the wrong reason.

I have tested my methods with two kinds of accounts. The one kind of account is one that has not done very well, yet it is in the same niche as other accounts I have that did do well. I was able to turn those accounts around. Second, was testing it on accounts in which I totally changed the niche of the account. This is what gave me the most evidence. If you can change a niche of an account and make it successful, you fully understand how IG works.

Finally, you have to realize that over 70% of your followers never even see your posted content. So followers don't mean anything, yet people are obsessed with them.

Your followers are almost useless.

Also, there is almost an equal number of men and women on IG. It's just women post more, but men are there lurking, and they are totally under served.

Also, a majority of IG users are non-U.S. - This is a big deal.

you say men are not served but there are hot girl pages all over the place and fitness all over the place I feel men are as equally served just need to pick a niche with high engagement.
as long you know what demographic you are going to then you should be successful. As you said followers don't really mean much if you engagement is shit.
also thats my favorite word because people are so fixated on followers and their engagement ends up being poop because they follow and unfollow if done right they should still come back and engage with you.

here's a guy that does not talk like donald chump! well said.
however, "timing doesnt matter" is prolly not completely true. i believe social media is supposed to be about timing. old news might have gathered a lot of notes/likes, but people want to see something fresh/new. IG is prolly going to lose users if every time they come back, they see the same 'popular' stuff.

I personally think that when you get likes and comments that are instant, then you can be able to know that your audience is always anticipating for something. For me it is a good indicator and you should be happy that you are moving in the right direction. You in fact need to get a way of increasing the posting rates so as to keep the audience.

True.

For myself I know within 15 minutes if the post will work or not (without powerlikes). I have personal intervals at minute 3, 7 and 15. If the number of likes do not meet the said timestamps, the post is gone. When the 3rd minute is reached and the likes passed the test, I kick in the powerlikes and booom. Why I wait? Because I don't wanna waste my buddies time for liking a pic which I may be trash it away.

I also have a "test"-time at 15 minutes. How many likes are you looking at for 15 minutes and how many followers? I'm not using powerlikes, so my prediction is usally a lot more solid at the 1h mark, where I seem to have gotten 25% of the total likes for the photo, posting once a day.

I don't look to the follower amounts, they will come automatically when the likes meet the requirements

When I was smaller I had the 20 likes per minute rule, this had to hold up till at least 30 minutes. Now it has to hold up for at least 45 minutes.

3 min = Prefer at least 120 likes, 100 bare minimum or delete
7 min = Prefer at least 220 likes, 200 bare minimum or delete
15 min = Prefer at least 420 likes, 350 bare minimum or delete

I delete about 10% of my posts, so it happens rarely.

Sorry, I was not clear in my question about followers, I simply meant how many followers do you have, not how many you gain. Seems like we have worked out the same "test" rules, just I don't delete my posts, but use as an indicator how well it will go.
