Time to reformat? Try XP Ultimate

Alright blackhatters I've been lurking for the past few weeks and learning a bunch of stuff. So here's what I am going to give back.

A few weeks ago I got infected with a bad piece of spyware so I decided to reformat. I came across WINDOWS XP ULTIMATE Just go to TPB and search for it.

It uses an XP core, but has display options for a Mac Gui, Linux, Vista, XP, and Windows classic! If your sick of windows, you can switch to a mac interface. It's really nice. I am using it on my desktop and laptop. Ideally you need at least 1GB of RAM to run this smoothly.

This reminds me of the old saying: "You can't shine shit." ... So what, you make XP pretty and waste more RAM doing so, what good is that? If you want to remain spyware free boot with a ubuntu live cd, try it out. If you like it install it... It has a pretty WM and doesn't eat as much ram.

I need to use windows because it has visual studio and C# is my favorite programming language, so what I do now is make 2 partitions, one for data, one for the OS, and keep incremental backups of the OS partition using norton ghost so If things get screwy I can just go back to one of my early backups where I have fresh installs of everything, so it's a lot easier than reformatting

Nifty shit got this running on one of my old machines. Its running on only 256 megs. of ram btw

No problems yet, but its just my PPI warmachine.

1gb on ram.... :S .... Destroys the purpose.


Damn I went to a gaming version of XP Pro just last week and it only uses 68mb just to run it with Vista addons..

cmon everyone should have at least 2GB of ram by now!

You can use windows and linux on a mac with parallels, thats what I do. You can even keep your windows task bar, its awesome.
