Time to decide: French vs German

As someone living in Canada, I can tell you that unless you plan to get a job with our government, or live solely in Quebec then you don't really need the French - however it is always a nice asset.

Germany is also a much better market place for online business than french in my opinion. However, having been all over this world I can tell you that Canada is a hell of a place to live and there is no other place I'd rather lay down my hat to start a future in than here.

Yeah I know US is a great country, I have visited both US and Europe. But there are few things about US which I strongly dislike. For example, what problem do you guys have with pedestrians? People ALWAYS use their cars, even for walking distances. The country has been designed for cars. Seriously, that's a bit too much for me. I like to take a walk sometimes.

Add to that the horrible "mandatory tipping" system in restaurants, a general "in your face" advertising culture. I just prefer other western countries over the US. I don't mean any offence, it's just a personal opinion.

I speak both. Lived in Montreal, QC for 5 years, in different parts of Europe for the rest. Have just moved from France, where I spent over a year.

I personally would go for French, just because imho there are more people that do NOT speak English from the countries like France, Italy, Spain etc. and these people will appreciate a lot more if u speak their language. Germans, since the language closer to English, tend to speak it very well from my experience.

U might have noticed I said France, italy and Spain. Since the body of the language is the same, I have actually been able to "speak" with Spanish and Italian ppl [by speak I mean I talk baby French, they talk baby Spanish back and we "understand" what the ohter is trying to say]

I'll definitely go with german. The richest countriy in Europe is Germany, their industry performance is impressive. I've worked there, if you have some good (i mean not common skills, preferalby IT or mechanics) skills, and you speak german - you are set.

To stay fluent, you gotta emerge yourself in the culture.

German......Oktoberfest.....no contest.

The problem with Greman is that even when you say nice things they come out harsh. Its like back in history the Germans had a seroiouos cade of redass.

"I love you" flows, "Je t'adore" sounds romantic, "Ich Liebe Dich" sounds link I pissed you off.
