Imagine a society where those who are dumber (or act dumb) will actually benefit. Extremely toxic in my opinion, because such apps (and even earning money through it) will promote very bad behavior.

This is the ultimate achievement: Not to have skills. Not to do something special. No no, it is to be as stupid as you can possibly be and to show it to the whole world and if you show a large number of people who stupid you are, you will earn money.

I agree. I've seen various people from my former social circle which now feel like they've become the next big celebrity, because of their embarrassing dancing videos which cycled through TK's massive algorithm and got some views and likes.

Furthermore, it's questionable what amounts of money TK would be willing to pay their content creators. Would it be equal to YouTube where some people can actually make a living from it, or would it be like "get and millions views and claim some cents, min withdrawal $100"?

Edit: I think it's a spontaneous decision by TK to prevent them from getting banned within the US. $200 is a load of money and they could expect to get even more from it. US government might think like: "Oughrrr, money *drool runs out of mouth* - let's just forget about the fact that they are probably spying on everyone like NSA 2.0 whilst killing the children's natural dopamine balance.

Part of the reason is that Facebook is not officially available in China...and not letting us collect that info :)

I thought it was only youtube that paid people to create content. Either way it is through google ads and people really hate ads. If tiktok is planing on adding ads to their vedeos then they are goinng to lose a lot of users very fast. They should just leave it to youtube. Infact I do not think that it will pay that much.
 
If I am now going to get paid by tiktok just for making videos then what are they waiting for. I am very darn good video editor and content creator. I however hope that it is not just a fuss to get people to join tiktok because india is really against it.
