fyp is just a hashtag, but i think their algo is targeting you you by your interest if there is fyp (any kind of the fyp) in your desc. This is the only logical thing..

For you page is the videos that are presented to you based on what you like("for you" vs "who you follow"). People made the name into a hashtag. It isn't actually programmed to do anything special. Just a myth basically.

You can use a VPN to instantly change the location of your tiktok, I've switched around a few servers and likes started flooding from the specific areas I was connected to. You can try using Atlas VPN if you want a free option to target the US market, tho its for mobile-only, dunno what to recommend if you work on a desktop.

Also, does anyone know benefits of working on a desktop with TikTok? It seems like I can only "like" videos and follow people, but I can't comment or like comments. Any way to change that or is this permanent?

tiktok its absolutely random.

There is a possibility that the video you uploaded was already uploaded before, and this is why tik tok didn't pick up and show to other users.
It's all about getting newest videos or unique ones, and not all these videos which already uploaded hundreds of times.
