Hi everyone,
I'm about to start a TikTok channel about product design/engineering, so what's the best strategy to attract (loyal and engaging) followers?

make good hooks, and try to find a funny angle. don't try to jump on trends to far out of your niche because they will eventually start scrolling past your videos, which will hurt reach over time

Post 3-second "design fail" or "how it's made" hooks, then reply to every comment with a mini technical insight this builds algorithmic loyalty faster than polished tutorials alone.

To start up this channel about design/engineering, you have to be good with editing and the latest info about it and also know how to pinch in update hooks when creating your content. Be fast in your videos when delivering the mean thing needed on that particular video so that people won't be bored with your content.

Loyal followers usually come from a repeatable format, not random viral shots. Pick a couple lanes and keep coming back to them... teardown, prototype fails, quick design fixes, that kind of thing. The nerdy engineering bits are fine if they’re packaged fast, but the real hook is letting people follow a process instead of just a finished object. And yeah, showing tradeoffs or what didn’t work tends to pull better comments than polished final renders.

Create a distinctive element, whether it’s a specific greeting or some humor that is relevant to the niche. Also, include something that encourages the audience to interact, such as: “In the next video, I’ll give a shout-out to the first 10 people who comment.”

I’d focus on series-based content rather than random videos: show how products are designed, engineered, tested, and why some ideas fail. Keep a clear niche, strong hook, and reply to comments with videos. Loyal followers usually come from useful content + a recognizable format, not just viral posts.

Post high-quality, highly entertaining videos to attract views, and combine them with regular livestreams to help grow your TikTok following. If one of your videos gets picked up by the algorithm and starts trending, your follower count can increase very quickly.

Given your current goals, you should build your channel into a series of videos that answer questions viewers are curious about; this will be far more effective.

What are the secrets to keeping viewers engaged when creating design content?

How can we turn the debugging and testing process into engaging content that attracts loyal viewers?

What are some ways to create a funny hook for your video that helps keep viewers engaged longer?

Focus on showing the design process, interesting engineering details, and quick problem-solving tips rather than just finished products.
Keep a consistent format and encourage discussion with simple questions so viewers have a reason to follow and return.

in terms of product design make the process the content, such as reasons for designing a product in a particullar manner, rapid prototyping, failure nd improvement. this type of content will attract followers who have genuine interest in the niche rather than random followers.

Start with a strong hook to grab attention, make your videos engaging for better retention, focus on good content quality, and stay consistent. Most importantly, keep testing what your audience enjoys and improve with every video.
