TikTok contacted me on Instagram?

yes I've been doing more searches and it's hard to find but some of them are starting to appear.
I think what happened was this was a newly made account(s) on IG as they only had 2 followers.

this is really weird....their links go to tiktok at instagram with only 28 million followers
youtube tiktok with only 200k subs

and even tiktok account in tiktok with only 48 million followers.

I don't get it. How are these fake accounts? How does TikTok itself only have 48 million followers on TikTok?
Only 200k subs in youtube? Are these fake TikTok accounts masquerading around as the official TikTok company?

make sure to change your email "password" also in case you used the same login information on both your tiktok and email account.. they may try to access your email account using the phished email and password.

yes, I also made sure all my other accounts had different passwords linked to my tiktok or IG or email. Thanks for mentioning it anyways...very smart.

Not sure what link you're referring to. Like on the scam website you were sent?
They were linking to official tiktok instagram, and youtube, and pretending to be the official Tiktok team if anyone clicked on those social media buttons to check.
But they aren't actually the real tiktok, just a bunch of scammers.

Those may or may not be official TikTok accounts. If they are official accounts, TikTok may not be that concerned with having a stronger presence on their competitors' platforms, especially since they've been rapidly outgrowing them. They may not even see much of a need right now to have more than 48 million followers on their own official TikTok account, although that's still a big number.

There are thousands of different scams and new appearing every day. You might not find every scam on google, but you should turn on the logic here. Just remember: No official platform/account/company will ever ask you for your password through the mail or especially through the social platform. Even if the mail/message look legit, you always need to be suspicious. First check the email they are sending from or the domain they are referring to. In your case there is huge "SCAM" sign on it. You have a lot of value in your social accounts, you have to be smarter and less naive.

As an experienced member you should be aware of this type of scam.

You just got scammed, change your credential quickly.

Agreed. I've been using all sorts of platforms for 20+ years and rarely do this. I think since I was expecting
to get approval badge soon and tiktok/IG were linked using them interchangeably, I really thought I was approved and
acted in haste.

I reported those accounts to IG and they rejected the reports lol. So IG doesn't think they are scammers or anything wrong with their accounts (2 of them contacted me at the same hour).

I don't get why IG thinks they aren't doing anything wrong and didn't ban or shutdown those accounts.

It's a free domain from freenom. It's absolutely a scam.

What is you insta handle? I feel like your bank is gonna contact you and ask you your card number, expiration date, and cvv to verify your card ownership.

Bro, i thought this was a sarcastic post. Tiktok never contacts you on Instagram or in chat but an email without asking you the login credentials.

I guess that .ml domain is available for free on freenom.

You need to be more carefull,if you almost felt for this... There are much more smarter and made scams

this is totally scam i'll tell you why:
-they using free domain ml from freenom
-also for the hosting they using infintyfree, i know because i was using it to host some of my landing pages.
-for the website design they using some free online landing page creator
so be aware homie, you can't just fall for this in the next. there is no big company will contact you in insta asking for your info

yeah I'm usually the guy that NEVER clicks on spam, links, or visits websites, answers any questions from sources I don't know
etc.

What I find happens is that when you don't face or deal with security threats for a long time, you tend to lower your guard
and get complacent. Every now and then you get a kick in the ass to remind you to always be vigilant and aware at all times.

I've been using IG and TikTok everyday so suddenly TikTok wants to approve me for the verified badge and I thought it was totally legit cuz I was sort of hoping or expecting for it. Then when I entered the info, I thought I was just logging into my tiktok account.

I remember getting emails from facebook long time ago saying there was a security breach of my account and they just wanted to protect my account so they wanted me to confirm my account info and log in. It looks real legit with all the facebook logos and facebook website and then i saw the email was: facebookmail.com and thought to myself "Ah HA, that's totally a scam".

The same thing exists now only with a new name (TikTok). This was the first ever fake TikTok message I received in email or in messages. Since I hadn't received or ever seen any fake tiktok security / accounts / verification team I was completely caught off guard and thought it was legit TikTok.

Proves that things don't really change, they only take on new forms and different appearances.
