hope so, my sister got her password hacked the same day she installed tiktok, and after all what's in it for us marketers? The users are all 11-year-olds. I don't see why the majority don't go after LinkedIn instead

Damn, that would massively duck a lot of chinese companys. Imagine the revenue loss as the US market is absolutely huge.

I don't agree. Tiktok is being used a lot by millennials and boomers too. There are in fact a lot young users with no value but there are more and more users with money to spent.

A smart man would start figuring out what the next popular app will be and jump on board.

This is a common misconception, as you can see it from the chart below too:

Those two are entirely different. The emphasis is on entertainment on TikTok mostly for the young crowd, on Linkedin it's professional relations for an older audience. You can promote successfully on both.

Honestly, without talking about our privacy, I believe TikTok is very unhealthy to our mental state.

Just think about all the young folks using it on a daily basis for 5-7 HOURS. These 10sec videos or less will lead to a massive decrease in Attention Spam and anoverdosis of Dopamine.

Besides too much dopamine (Social Media Heroine), people, especially the younger generation, will compare themselves to much prettier and ‘successful’ people. Which will lead to a lower self-esteem, more depression, more suicidal thoughts and an destruction of the ability to Focus for 30 min or longer.

The continuous race to make the FYP, to gain x-amount of likes, shares, comments.. will turn people into an attention seeking machine.

this ofcourse does not only apply to TikTok, it started way back in 2010 with the invention of Instagram. But TikTok for sure has made this worse.

I really hope our governments will put age-restrictions on our phone use, just like they did with tabac.

Also, I’m 21 and I see A LOT of friends, going to a bar, just to grab their phone and shoot a TikTok. After the video is shot and they ‘faked’ having fun, they ALL go back to their phone to consume more content.

This is absolutely crazy and scares the shit out of me

U.S. Audience – As we mentioned, we estimate that TikTok has about 80 million monthly active users in the United States. 60% are female, 40% are male. 60% are between the ages of 16-24. 26% are between the ages 25-44. 80% are between the ages 16-34. This data comes straight from TikTok.
You're right, but still 16-24 are far from a profitable audience.

I like the idea of making it time restricted like Tobacco use is age-restricted also. It sounds like a well based and provable claim

I meant, that we as marketers can have healthier profits working with LinkedIn than TikTok. I get that these are almost the opposite but there's more money in B2B than beauty products

LikedIn was built for a more professional audience. Tiktok is mainly for entertainment, nothing serious

Did you guys see that TikTok already decided to stop operations in HongKong?

awesome. i like your charts.

Time will tell, the future is uncertain.

Adjust your investment accordingly.

Yeah, PR stunt.

Fact is, they already have a Chinese version of TikTok called DouYin. Why create more work for themselves by censoring on two platforms?

Move everyone to DouYin to make the communist party happy, while making the west happy by appearing to "pull out" of Hong Kong over the new national security law.

“All content put out on short-form video platforms can only be broadcast after content review, including program titles, synopses, bullet comments, comments, etc.,” the CNSA said, adding that companies should employ at least one censor for every 1,000 videos to manage the work."
