    Hi Friends,

I am tring to learn about link building and have viewed a few vids on You tube. But I'm still a confused...and hoping someone could enlighten me. Forgive me...as a I'm totally clueless.

    TIER 1
Not sure what this is exactly. I know that link building focuses on 3 levels of Tier building and the first is Tier 1.

What exactly is TIER 1 BUILDING?
    1. Is this where you create a blog on your site and hope the engines find it. I have YOAST as my Wordpress plugin for SEO...is this using TIER 1 building?

    2. I watched some of Matt Woodwards vids, but he fails to explain exactly what TIER 1 building is. He just dives into the vids.

    3. Where does Link-Sharing come into play and how is this related to TIER building?

    4. I know that blogging puts out info to SERPS but how is that related to TIER BUILDING?
    ------------

Can someone help with this concept or point me in the right direction?

Just trying to Wrap my head around the concepts.

    Sure do appreciate the input....

    thanks very much!

Tier 1 is any kind of links pointing to your money or primary site. Could be blogs, Web 2.0, articles, press release, directory or any other kind.

After the recent updates Web 2.0 sites are recommended as tier 1 links.
    1) Your blog will be your money site not tier 1 site. Any external links you create to it will be tier 1
    2) Not sure what you mean by link sharing. Do you mean link exchange?
    3) By building links to your money site you increase its rankings in Google.

    Hope that helps

Tier 1 is any other website that links directly to your site. So you might make a Squidoo lens or post an article somewhere that links back to your site. Tier 2 is another website that links to your Tier 1 sites which then links through to your website. So you could for example post an article about your niche (tier2) that links to your Squidoo lens (tier 1) which links through to your website. Its like making a path to your site with various levels.

Think of it as an onion.

Your site is a the core. Each ring around it is a tier.....count inside-out.

So you are saying if i post an article on a site...and have it point BACK to the EXACT location of the same article on My Site...that would be Tier 1....correct?

If you are creating links on different domains then same ip is ok.

if you are creating multiple Web 2.0 on say a single domain (say Wordpress.com) then use different ip.

Google usually only gets to see link on tier linkpage and not the ip it was posted from. BUT owners of the domain moderate and fight hard against spam. If you use same ip on their domains it might trigger their spam alerts.

Hi, If you have your site and its about "green dogs" for example you would just make the site as normal about "green dogs". If you then wrote an article completely different and posted it on ezine articles or made a squidoo lens about "green dogs" with something like where someone can buy one or see more pictures etc that is where you would put the homepage link back to your site. Thats your tier 1 link linking back to your homepage of your site. So it doesnt need to be the same article at all. Its better to have lots of different articles out on the web about "green dogs" all pointing back to your main site. You could have one on where to buy them, another one on how to look after them etc etc and in them you would put a link back to your homepage. Hope thats clearer.

If the exact same content on both, that's just duplicate content, if I understand this correctly: "of the same article on My Site"

You have your Money site which is the Site you have built yourself and hosted. So say you want to rank the keyword " buying dog food" on your website. You would write an article about "buying dog food" and post it on your site. Now to rank that keyword in the google top 10 your need links to it.

Below is a list of web 2.0's they can be used as your Tier 1 links. So sign up for say 10 of these site and post an unique article to each one(pics and video to) You can use something like the best spinner to do this as well. Do them right, write an About Me page, put up a fake profile picture and fill out personal details with made up info.

Wait for 1 week and then go back in an use your main keyword " buying dog food" as anchor text to link back to your main site. But mix it up as you cannot use "buying dog food" all the time. So use it say 20%-30% of your links. Use say 15% LSI. LSI is ie ( "buy dog food"/ "shop for dog food"/ "dog food shopping" etc etc. then mix with anchor " "click here" " look at this website" etc. etc. Also link to other sites in your niche to make it look natural. If you have an issue with a web 2.0 just move onto the next one.

So that's 1 link from each web 2.0 to the page you are trying to rank and 1 or 2 links to other related sites to make it look natural

    Code:
    wordpress.com
    weebly.com
    tumblr.com
    angelfire.com
    my.opera.com
    my.telegraph.co.uk
    squidoo.comblog.com
    yola.comwebnode.com
    drupalgardens.com
    groups.diigo.com
    newsvine.com
    webs.comjimdo.com
    tripod.lycos.com/
    cabanova.com
    webstarts.com
    canalblog.com
    sitew.comucoz.com
    crowdvine.com
    jigsy.com
    shutterfly.com
    page.tlblog.co.uk
    manifo.com
    snappages.com
    pen.iodevhub.com
    blinkweb.com
    dinstudio.com
    webgarden.com
    blogs.miarroba.com
    alivenotdead.com
    flixya.com

You can make youtube video and link to your site as Tier 1. You can use Doc sharing sites as tier 1. Then when you have that done come back and ask how to build tier 2 links to your tier 1. Take it one step at a time and then at least you will have learned how to do that step. It gets confusing trying to take everything in at once. :)

Google doesn't have access to blogs other than blogger, so you can create more than blogs on different web 2.0s, but if you create more blogs on the same web 2.0 try to use different ip, cause the site might delete your blogs. So, using web 2.0s with same proxy has nothing to do with google, it is with the site you post on.

so if we join to them web 2 sites and create articles and post them. How do we actually point them to our main site. So name use ancher text as on your site that you trying to rank for

also software like GSA or Scrapebox, do you get them to post to your web 2 page as that is pointing to your main site

If you are asking how to link Web 2.0 to money site. Then use in text links from Web 2.0 to money site. Each post should have 1-2 links to money site and 1 link to other sites (preferably wikipedia kind of sites). For anchor text use variations - keyword you are trying to rank for, LSI keywords, brand name, generic words (click here, here) or naked URLs as well.

GSA can post to Web 2.0 and other articles sites. You have to make sure your articles have the correct links. Although GSA can add links as well in the post I prefer to do it when I spin the content.

Don't think it could be explained any more comprehensively than that.

    What are you struggling with?
