Tier and PR ?

I've been looking around for ideas and methods that I will be using to promote my website and I've been intrigued on how the backlink tiers work.

Correct me if I am wrong, from what I could understand, I will be doing a 2 tier promoting (not sure if there is more tiers or how they are classified but would love to know more if u could), so it would work like this:

  • MY SITE
    • TIER1 like facebook, google plus, youtube ? that leads to my site ?
      • TIER 2 blogs and related sites to post comments that leads and backup the TIER1 sites ?

I know what PR is but I don't know what each number means, could some one clear that up for me ? PR0 to PR10 ? Like 0 means what and defines what ?

Would love some guidance on how this works!

PR is just a measurement that Google assigns to websites based on a system of metric analysis that it doesn't disclose. It isn't related to tiered linking, the easiest way to increase your PR is by receiving external links from other pages that are, themselves, high PR.
 
PR is a just one of the factor that influences Search Engine Ranking system.

I advise you to use Web 2.0 Properties as 1st Tier. Web 2.0 Properties like Squidoo, Wordpress, Blogger, Tumblr, and other high quality and high PR websites. Write unique contents on them. In addition to that, you can also put doc sharing, YouTube, FB, Twitter.

For 2nd tier, you can use spin content and link to tier 1.

Is there a list or how do I know what is a good Tier 1 or a good Tier 2 ? Do I link both tiers to my site or is it like I was mentioning above I like Tier 2 to Tier 1 and Tier 1 to my site ?

Thanks, I was trying to find if there was a guideline of what the numbers meant but I guess from what you say its something internal for them.
 
Friendly bump, I am still unsure on how to identify if a site is suited for Tier1/2 how do I evaluate that?
 
PR has nothing to with SERPS. Get relevent high PR links for link juice.
 
Ramnath I understand that it doesn't have anything to do, what I wanted to know about PR was merely what the numbers meant which was explained to me above.

However my great doubt here is how to identify if a site is suited for Tier1/2 how do I evaluate that?

I did like to focus on country local search keywords and knowing how to know which site would be a good tier1 and which site would be a good tier2 I would be able to find good sites within a country local search and better understand this.
 
Google's PR is a kind of reflection of site's authority. More high authority websites linking to your site, more authority gain your site. So PR0 means page is not important or not popular, PR10 is a top of the Internet.
PR is (still) very important measurement, if you look at sales threads you will notice that every single provider mentions high PR domains where they get links from.
However high PR links alone won't improve you ranking this days, you need to mix them with other methods of links building like bookmarking, social signals, relevant blog posts, etc.

There are several blueprints available on the forum. You should not link all tiers to your main site.

I've seen some lists of PRs sites but it doesn't tell me how to identify a site for which Tier it should be worth using, could you direct to one of those blueprints that does it ?

Or it doesn't matter and I should just classify the sites by their PR and Google relevance in order to know which I should pick for Tier 1 then pick slight worst ones compared and make em Tier 2?
 
PR is what google gives to pages once they show Good behaviour as per big G -- this is subjective and often can be stripped down without any reason !!
You should look for high Domain Authority (DA) / Page Authroity (PA) sites -- search for seomoz opensiteexplorer for this...

a domain with high DA/PA means that it has a lot of QUALITY backlinks and a lot of referring domains ....

For the first part..

You can have any amount of tiers you want -- it can be tier 1 / 2/3/4/5 .... the more the merrier !! but dont waste time....

Keep good quality stuff as tier 1 (original content , blogs, videos, wiki (again if original content) ) ... keep other blasts as tier 2
