Tier 2 backlinks still improve ranking?

Some years ago tier 2 boosted ranking of already indexed tier 1 links. Is still the case or are tier 2 links only worth it to get the link indexed?

Tier 2 Links are working for indexed the Tier 1 links. From that indexing sure you can get ranking. So Tier 2 links still works.

If you think about the fllow of link juice and authority through sites that are linked on the internet, with some sites clearly being more powerful than others, then it stands to reason that tier 2 and beyond all have an effect on ranking. How much effect depends on how powerful your tier 2 links are and how many of them you have.

Yes, but I mean if it goes beyond just indexing. The good old link juice is a dying out thing in the SEO community it seems.
