Hi

We run a purely white hat strategy as our site is an e-com startup so everything needs to be high value and nothing spammy in terms of link building.

Question: I'm a bit new to the idea of Tier 2, we haven't done a lot of this other than to FB, Insta, Youtube pages etc in the past from guest posts, but largely this has gone alongside the moneysite link.

Is it worth building Tier 2 new links to quality natural pages from high DR sites that already link to money pages on our site? To boost page UR, will that have a flow-on effect to our site? In the white hat sense do you need to make sure these links are quality and relevant to the topic it's linking to (eg the Tier 1 quality page that links to us)?

My take on tier 2 links is when you build only a few links to them is to always follow the rule for them to be d0follow so my time isn't wasted.

But most of the time, you don't need to build tier 2 links. Say, your niche competition is low or medium, you'll rank in six months with a consistent tier 1 link strategy without tier 2.

If you need tier 2 and your tier 1 links are authoritive, you can even blast them.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, appreciate the advice.

We have good metrics for keyword movement up, overall great momentum. The more competitive push for us is international but that is where the traffic and growth is.

The US is certainly more competitive than our local market. I've seen some good profile links on here (not revelent though) so just thought these could possibly good to boost the Tier 2 eg portfolio sites.

Our Tier 1 is good, just looking for an edge.
