Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section wasn't quite sure where to put it.

I would like to say that getting a VPS from thrustvps (damnvps.com) has been one of the biggest wastes of money EVER. To clarify, I am not a techy person at all, but I assumed when purchasing this VPS it would be working when I got it. Boy was I wrong, literally NOTHING was configured or set up on it in even the slightest way. Being not a techy person I have no idea how to resolve the issues I am having. Having contacted support for help on the most basic of things their response has been "Google It". Wow what pieces of goddamn shit. Google It, really? I have now spent the past two days trying to figure this bull shit out. I used to have xsserver and was unhappy with them because the speed sucked but at least it came configured and ready to use.

If you are looking for a VPS that provides good customer services and is an honest company then stay away from thrustvps at all costs and they will not help you in even the slightest.

There it goes for my rant, now does anyone know of a VPS provider that has fair prices and decent support?

    thanks

I guess you get what you pay for ;) ThrustVPS sells bulk and for cheap. They get customers that abuse the resources and you can't expect much for the price.

I would look elsewhere. Also check for VPS hosting in the Buy, Sell, Trade here on BHW, you might find some good deals ;)

    XSserver...

I signed up with them 6 months ago and found out the speed was very, very low.
So I contacted their support and asked to shift me over to some other node. They did it in less than 12 hours - and I've been using that server for over 6 months now without having any issues, except that they did a scheduled maintenance which I was made aware of through email.

    I'd say go with Hostwinds.

Ive had their ups and downs with them but the service and support is good.

+1 for a bad experience with ThrustVPS

The support staff are pretty crap and the service itself is very dissapointing. I myself had problems everyday either due to the VPS rebooting itself or turning off and then i had to run a re-install for the OS on another node.

    Pretty crap !

those are common issues with providers who over sell more than what they can handle. I would normally just say it but all posts with that name get magically deleted.

This seems to be trending amongst providers that offer the "cheapest" VPS's. Watch out for oversold servers...

you guys are going off topic its not about cheap or over sold,
the problem here the guy has.. is that he is a non techy person and he cudn get help with softwares etc.,

just so you know OP most servers that are cheap are unmanaged servers !!
which means they install the OS with the standard settings that it comes with , then the rest is on you .

most donot offer software support, like the IE settings on most 2008 r2 servers that are set to high by default downloading stuff can be a pain but its not something you cant find solutions on google :)

but if all that is too much , find managed servers ! but they cost a ton more as well.

Websiteserviceplus is the same as thrustvps (i think websiteserviceplus is reseller of thrustvps). I tried both i did have problems with server stability with thrustvps so i now use websiteserviceplus and i do not have any problems. I am runing scrapebox,AMR,Senuke for $9 month. It cannot be cheaper that that.

No downtime, speed is 12 MB/S right now - i tested woth speedtest.net. It cannot be better for this price.

Men what do you expect from VPS.What should be configured. You do not really need anything than to install windows and that is all you need. I didn't contacted support at all for 6 months.

Not quite true. I am fine configuring servers, but their are plenty of other issues with them. Non genuine windows (They say they will "activate" it but takes forever for them to do so), poor support when something is legitimately down, and just all round idiots.

No matter how good you are, at some point you are going to need some support for one thing or another. If that support isn't there then they are a shite company. Period.

+1 for a bad experience here.

Came with NO Windows installed as claimed and it was DIRT SLOW. Got the Emerald package which on paper looks like it should at least be usable, but was often so slow I couldn't even set up an Senuke campaign.

For me there was 2 Days down time few weeks ago. That was the worst experience with Thrust VPS. This should not be the primary VPS service for anyone. Buy another VPS and keep this cheap VPS as a backup one.

they have some issue on clients abusing resources, but overall they're a good cheap provider and you should have some technical knowledge to run vps on them.

Well my main complaint is the speed was HORRIBLE. It's like I was getting almost NO resources... Senuke could at times take like 5 minutes just to start up after you double-clicked it. You'd click a button and it wouldn't even register a click for a good 10 seconds or so. Literally so slow that I had to just not work on Senuke those days. Even on the best days it was slow, but it was 1994 slow a lot of the time.

Same here. I have been with them for 1.5 years and everything ran has gone great. I run tons of programs simultaneously and almost never have problems at all.
