Threads from Banned Users

I notice many threads receiving multiple replies, but when we open a thread, we find that the user has already been banned. I believe such replies are pointless. If the user or the person seeking information is absent, the thread should be closed to further replies. This way, we can avoid having multiple threads. If a thread is unique and appears to be significant, it should be forwarded to a moderator, and you can mark it as sourced from a banned member.

I see your point. Some threads, where the OP is asking for advice or tips, and people are still providing them with that despite that line through their username - yeah, perhaps they've outlived their usefulness. In which case you (or anyone else, for that matter) should report said thread and staff will look into whether it should be closed.

If it's a general discussion thread where the banned OP was raising a subject that's still worthy of discussion, then that's a different matter. They may have gone but the topic's still active and we wouldn't see any reason to squash that by closing the thread.

As we say in matters like these so much of the time, if you're not sure about something (anything) on the forum, report it. It's our job to investigate what the community's concerned about.

That said, I don't dislike the idea of tagging a thread as being from a banned member and maybe we can look into whether Xenforo will allow us to do something like that.
