So I'm sure that all of us who have had dealings with freelancers, whether from an IM forum or not, have had the opportunity to see and hear some of the most amazing, creative, stupid, and/or ridiculous excuses for why our work hasn't been completed at the time constraints specified when a payment was made. It's funny that there are no excuses being made as the money is being taken.

Often times, we're promised the world, and yet, our work isn't delivered, or it's not delivered on time, or we're provided a much less than sufficient service, or any combination of the above.

After being sold a dream which turned into a nightmare, what are some the excuses you've received from your paid excuse giver(s)?

I tried to contact you a lot of time yesterday but my internet keep scrolling and it's not deliver to you. Just my connection started and first you are whom i contacted now.

Hilarious:)...well as a freelancer myself I can imagine....however, it depends on the freelancers nature. Personally, because I know I will be hard pressed to lie, it drives my to work hard to meet my promised delivery dates....and when I cant meetup, I just tell it as it is.

Trough the years a lot of family members died from different people I bought something from. Or brothers and sisters in the hospital.

So this thread is basically a shitlist of freelancers that doesnt delivers?
Interresting, maybe this forum should have a subforum dedicated to that.

I worked with an incredibly talented designer on a project, but he kept pushing back the TAT and sometimes would disappear. Finally when he delivered, he forgot to send a simple file which I know he had. When I messaged him a few minutes later, I saw he started typing and disappeared yet again. I called him out on it and hours later his excuse was "my dog stepped on my laptop".

I found this bizarre because I 100% knew he had the file I need, but for some reason just didn't want to perform a 5 second drag and drop to finish.

my freelancer friend often takes up too much work and gets burnt out so he disappears, but he doesn't lie about it. he simply says i was mentally exhausted but his clients are good people who understand since they are the ones with excessive demands

Thanks for posting this. I had 2 mental exhaustions on Fiverr so far. The person I was honest with (I ended up charging way to little & they kept wanting revisions (never doing unlimited again) understood when I explained I didn't want to spend another 3 hours when already spent 4 & was only charging $10...)) The other person I just procrastinated which caused me to get stressed & not able to deliver. Luckily they accepted my mutual cancellation but they commented on it saying unprofessional... Which isn't false. Also lucky, there was no review option so it only slightly hurt my backend SEO on Fiverr, but oddly enough got more sales faster after cancellation lol

I just died a few days ago, and today a lady doc bring me back to life!

This freelancer literally said "oh yeah my laptop broke so I didn't finish" and when I asked how, she said she spilled candy on it??? How does that even make sense, am I supposed to believe that???
