I opened 2-3 thread today from other members, and I noticed that we (all) sometimes opening threads in the wrong category, and thanks to mods they are doing their job perfectly!

Once the thread is moved to correct category most of the mods are posting that "Thread Moved" posts in the thread.
For example:
IosFC1J

Not sure why is the reason behind this post, but xenforo long time ago added the option for mods to send a notification to members who opened the thread with a reason once the thread is moved or deleted.

Therefore I think that it is better to be used that method. I don't like to sound like a smart ass, but this kind of posts is unnecessary for other members.

Just a suggestion.

Sometimes we send an alert and sometimes we share in public as @Zwielicht did there.

One handles it in the background and the other is making a statement as well as sending the alert.

We also have a warning for one that posts in the incorrect subforum.

Sometimes we delete the thread altogether and send an alert to the poster as to where to post properly.

There is more than one way to skin a cat.

While Xenforo does notify the OP of a thread that it has been moved, it does not notify other members viewing the thread. If anyone else had commented in it, they would not know that it had been moved otherwise, which could cause confusion. In addition to this, it's often useful if they know which moderator moved the thread in case they'd like some clarification.

Also, not all threads that are moved have that posted publicly in it. This is just usually done in the cases where a member may query it or need to know that it has been moved for any reason.

To add to what @BassTrackerBoats and @WilhelmScream said, there are number of other reasons why we publicly post those "thread moved" messages. For example, we do it to draw even more attention to the thread being moved and the section it was moved to so that members are more likely to post in the correct section in the future (e.g., the mobile marketing section, which used to be less well-known than it is now)

If members want to know why their thread was moved, we do have a newbie guide thread that goes over those reasons here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/why-was-my-thread-moved.1042438/

Explained well enough, you can close this thread if there are no other replies.
Sure thing, and thanks again for the suggestion. I think at the very least what we can try doing is linking to the newbie guide section thread as well as your thread in our thread moved posts to clarify the reasons why we post that and why we move threads. I've already drafted one up to start using in my future posts. :)
