I was reading a few case studies the other day about internal linking on your site. Supposedly, this is an underused resource for on-page optimization that many people miss.
The case studies show dramatic increases in keyword rankings using this tactic alone.
One study in particular said that you shouldn't repeat the keyword anchor text. Each one should be unique. And, you should have at least 3 pages linking to your money page using keyword anchor text. Other case studies didn't mention that key information.
So my question is this... which strategy is better below?
Let's say I'm trying to rank a page for these keywords
Find 6 pages on my site to internal link to the money page. Use exact match internal linking anchors and spread them evenly.
Strategy 2:
Find 6 pages on my site to internal link to the money page. Use longer keyword phrases and never repeat.
Find 6 pages on my site to internal link to the money page. Use exact match and longer keyword phrases for internal anchors, but never repeat.
