Hey guys,

I have been looking at the option for relatively passive income by buying Android or iOS apps (on Flippa) that have already a good amount of monthly net profit and keeping the ad campaigns going. Any thoughts on this method? Is it viable or am I going down the wrong rabbit hole?

It's not passive since you would have to fix bugs/update the apps. If it was easy passive income they would've not sold them.

Agree and disagree.

I have bought apps on flippa in the past. This pushed me to start deving apps.

What you will see with the apps on flippa is that they were not an instant download "hit". A lot of developers use programs like buildbox to farm out clones and then get them onto the app stores and try to dump them onto sellers. (I know this from hard hitting XP)

Be cautious of what you plan on buying. Just having an app on any of the app stores doesnt guarantee success or even downloads. SEO, marketing are relevant to this market.

My advice - Start with sticker messageing apps for IOS. MUCH easier to market and actually see a profit from as opposed to a game that you struggle to get people to play.

Good luck! Keep us posted of your attempts and successes.

I have iOS games portfolio and I have sold many games in flippa last year. And I still follow up what apps are for sale on flippa. But my opinion is that it is worth only if you know how to do aso, how to get downloads and how to improve rankings. If you want just to buy app and sit down and wait for income you will definitely loose money. Almost all apps in flippa is shitty clones without revenue, and even those who declare revenue just make fake screenshots and fake data. Very rarely there is good app available, with good stats, and price for such apps goes through sky.
