They should have the ability to continue to pay people through the paycheck protection program from the government stimulus..

Pretty sure that would not apply to B&Q as technically affiliates are self employed not staff in the UK.

I really don't understand the move. They get the same profit margin if affiliates bring in sales. They desperately need to get sales once the economical crisis starts. So why would you kill your affiliate connection and lose sales? For that 1% you get from what are basically your sales staff?

At least that sounds temporary, although that also makes me think that perhaps Amazon were prompted by COVID-19 and that perhaps they'll also "play it by ear" as to whether they keep their reductions in place or not, post COVID-19.

Then let me explain. One Buy is one of the fastest-growing marketplaces in the world. Based in the UK, OnBuy is seeking publishers for the UK market. (but they are opening doors to 42 new countries from August 2020.

@MisterF Amazon is posting higher sales, they bragged on TV about getting another 30% in sales since the start of Covid-19
restrictions. So, I think the move is just to cut the pay off it's affiliates and keep more for themselves. If true that really, really,
sucks. Now we have to work more to get the same pay even though actual sales have gone up.

Not sure if you are in the UK but they currently have a cue system to use the website. If I go there it tells me to wait over an hour before I can access the site. Once on the site there are restrictions on what I can buy. Basically I dont thnk they are looking for any extra traffic at the moment.

I haven't had any problems in the US to get on Amazon.com, so could be very different in locations I suppose. I'm just not happy that my current
commissions are going to go down as of today.
Had to Google them, realized a chain in the UK. Are they the leader in the UK> I guess a lot of it depends. Like Amazon is just killing it here, affiliates or not does not matter. Home depot here is leading in DYI, but of course, still fighting with Amazon in many places, but their commissions always sucked either way.
I highly doubt any of those programs cover affiliates, as they are not employees in any way. Also, keep in mind the broad public still does not see this as a true business (affiliates), so will only have the pictures in mind of the Lambo style gurus etc. Keeping real employees is beneficial for the company and its image, affiliates do not contribute anything to its positive image.
mh me neither. Question is , are they used widely in the UK? If not, guess the same as in the US, who cares if vendor XYZ offer 20% commission when nobody buys from them...
Likely Amazon used data to determine this such as:
- Is this a new customer for Amazon? No --> Likely would have bought anyway
etc..
In the end, all corporations are about profit. All the email you get now :
"we are in this together", "we are here to help".... and the free month/s of usage are nothing more than marketing to increase the chance of at least retaining paid users after this. It is not because they all are so compassionate.
