Anyone who uses the phrase "not up for discussion" immediately loses my attention. It shows a lack of respect for others for a start.
While I agree with your sentiments for the most part (hey - I'm still number 1 in 60% of the western world for the phrase "link disavowal tool" - so you can bet your ass I've had gazzillions of comments and more emails than can even open never mind read and reply to) the fact is it IS UP FOR DISCUSSION.
More than that it HAS TO BE DISCUSSED.
Maybe it's just your phraseology - I'm replying at all becasue I want to give you the benefit of the doubt. But in general anyone who pronounces on a new topic and says stuff like "case closed" or "not for discussion" doesn't get a lot of time or respect in future from me.
But I agree with your sentiments. Google are inches away from the one BIG anti trust that will scupper them, and they seem unaware of it. Let them stumble on - but avoiding the LDT if at all possible is pretty sound advice for many reasons.

On a slightly more serious note, the tool should be used when it is appropriate to do so. In contradistinction, I have very little reason to believe that anyone but the most adept SEOs will have the foggiest idea as to how to use the thing; most will end up blowing off their foot. Ergo, most people probably ought not use it. Google's likely done little other than add another layer to the snafu sandwich it's made for itself.

Yeah, I didn't mean to sound like a dick when saying the warning is 'not up for discussion', although reading it back it probably did. Using that phrase was more meant as 'we REALLY should not use it' (because Google is going to use it against us), rather than 'I am right, everyone else should STFU', which of course I did not mean at all. And the tool is obviously to be discussed, the more discussion the better, as long as people are warned sufficiently at the same time.
I agree, and I hope, that Google are indeed inches away from a single investigation into their practises, it's been a long time coming.

Im totally with you that we should not use disavow... now, any of you blackhaters that might have used it, would you please post your experience... i havent find so far not a single person that using disavow has gotten out of penalty, so really im not sure that is useful at all, at this point
