Hey. I've been reading here and there but I don't do SEO much. A friend of mine graduated w/ a major in English and while he looks for a job, I told him to blog about a specific topic and he chose PUA. He's not into IM/SEO/any computer stuff though, so he wants me to help him get hits.

The site is MarlonReed dot com - All his content is legit and he has a shitload of articles in draft so I dunno if content is the problem.

The problem is, the site is getting ZERO search traffic. Literally 100% direct traffic. He's discouraged (I told him to stop writing till this is figured out). I suggested increasing KD for specific phrases in each article and he seems to have did so with the more recent articles.

He says hes linking to the site from social bookmarking sites like socialmarker. I haven't checked his backlinks but I suppose that could be an issue.. i.e., not enough. or is PUA just too tough to get into? He's willing to write anything really, but SEO is on my shoulders. Right now I'm telling him to just make info products instead but I personally would like to see this site rank well since he put effort into it.

thanks :D

edit: the site can become a case study. I can have regular updates to the thread or something if you guys care.

i would suggest maybe using a different name for the site? if you search google for marlonreed, the 3rd or 4th result is a court case where Marlon Reed was convicted of selling crack and sentenced to almost 8 years in 1998...

thats an interesting blog.

but i believe that blog is related to the dating niche.. which my friend is highly competitive.

i suggest u o ur research and find a good keyword that matches the blog.. and then link build link build link buil

lol, yeah I noticed that too late. It's actually my friend's nick/pen name (I dunno why).

The idea was to build more of a brand than a content site.

It wasn't supposed to be dating per-se, but PUA is also really competitive. Site could definitely use more links though, and I need to raise KW density.
