SAPE is still strong and it's going nowhere. 90% of the russian sites that rank for anything competitive rely mostly on SAPE links.

Sape is still strong if you know how to use it.

I was using Sape since 2008 or even before, when I had not much experience in SEO so I used Sape to sell links from my site. $30-100 a month it brought was not much but still this was not bad additional income. So many webmasters who have sites put their sites to Sape system to earn extra income. And if someone has big site or several sites with good PR and Yandex metrics - it was good money for Russia.

But of course someone could add hacked sites to the system. BUT! To add the site one need to upload the folder to the main folder of site hosting, so I don't believe many sites were hacked this way.
I think it's just some people has huge amount of sites where they sell links, and sometimes such sites are shit, but still they add them to system.

I try to avoid these sites using good filters when I search for links and that's all.

Google.com is owned by Google. They can do what the f**k they want...anytime they want, to any site they want and there is nothing any site owner can do about. A lot of Sape links are hacked links and if Google find only ONE, just ONE link from a hacked site, they are entitled to make your site disappear for good. They aren't going to lose any sleep over it I can tell you.
Simple fact is, you can game the system today and get somewhere tomorrow, but sooner or later, I can guarantee you 100% Google will catch up and your site will pay the price. Might be next month or next year, but they will.
Funny thing is, to get good WH rankings takes 20% more work but you are 90% safer. Protect your investment and don't play with fire.

All it takes is just 1 Google's employee registered with SAPE, and the entire network goes to hell.
