I wanted to write a quick blog about how I checked in on my mindset today, and how it will change my productivity.
I hope if you're reading this and you're stuck in a bad spot with productivity, or aren't working well, hopefully this post will get you thinking
recently these past couple weeks I have been experiencing a lull in productivity. I do not know why.
when trying to diagnose this, I ask, am I less motivated? am I doing something more complicated than usual? do I not enjoy this current task?
all three of those questions, I answer no too. I'm still very motivated, this is not more complicated than usual, and I still enjoy this task.
I figured the reason is due to a barrier I've created in my mind from perfectionism.
in comparison, I remember hacking away at ridiculous things that nobody would ever think would work, and they still didn't work, but I hacked away at them nevertheless. so, this project I'm currently working on, why am I not banging it out like usual?
I'm approaching this project with a mindset of creating the "perfect launch". I have put a lot of money into the development of this project, and a lot of time. I have the mindset that "everything is riding on this". I have this mental block which forces me to work on the project when I have time, not working on making TIME for the project.
So, I want to go about solving this by finding the fun again. I need to remind myself that this isn't a homework task but, I'm creating something, and I'm doing something I love. I don't think I need to look far to "find" the love, I think I just need to look at it like I used to. I have a stable job on the side anyways, so it's not like my life is riding on it.
I just want to have fun again with it. so I'm going to try and do that again.
I hope there is some value for you to take away here.
