This is How I Made 7k Offline Today

Hey guys,

I want to share with you my story, maybe it can help some of you guys:

Like 1 month ago, I gave a speech in a conference about internet marketing. And I think and hope you all understand that we in this forum have much more knowledge and experience than the other folks who are doing "Internet Marketing".

So my point, I gave a nice speech, I talked about how I attracted 230k UV in 4 days and showed a video or that, then I talked a bit about SEO, then gave some time for social media marketing.

Anyway, this was just my 2nd speech, and I didn't think that it was that great speech, but apparently it was.

After the speech, I had 3 people who wanted to meet me so we can talk about their business.

So 2 weeks ago, I met one of the 3 people, who had a huge website.

We talked a bit and apparently he was VERY worried that his website traffic was going down, and some of the reasons for that was the bad SEO he had.

He mentioned that he invested 10's of thousands on SEO in the last couple months, with no results. He said something that was really true ("I guess that guys who truly know about SEO, don't make it for others, but profit from it their-selves")

I knew that I could help him, so I offered him that I can take a look at his website analytics, SEO work and other traffic methods, then I can give him a consultation.

Long story short, we agreed on 7,000$ for the job. And taking a look about how his folks and other external companies were doing the SEO and the whole marketing thingy took my approximately 5 hours.

Worth it isn't it?

You must have a gift for speaking if you are leaving that type of impact on your listeners and don't belittle this gift of yours. Be proud of what you have. If your comfortable with sharing your name, or just pm, I would love to check your stuff out. I work for an SEO company in NYC and I want to get to some SEO conferences and see people speak.

I wonder, how did you get the speaking engagement? Was it an IM conference or something else? Were you paid or was it free?

I read in four hour work week (my secular bible) that doing speaking engagements, even for free, is a huge boost for those who wish to build a brand.

Your bible is 4 hour work week?
The guy who was a corporate attorney (or was it banker?) making $200k/yr that tells you how to outsource your life and live on a beach, though he only was able to do this because he sold a brand of fake vitamin supplements and created a book that's literally bookshelf linkbait?

What conference was it? How did you get invited to speak?

No offence, but I'm slightly dubious. It's not easy to get speaking gigs (I've been offered before, but looking over your website I've never heard of you, nor does it have your real name which you'd need for speaking).

And $7k for 5 hours? Not unheard of, but sounds a little on the high side. $1400 an hour SEO consultants do not post their Skype addresses all over webmaster forums - that I can tell you for sure.

I am not saying this is real or bs but often business networking groups have a few chances a year for you to feature your biz. In fact I used to participate regularly when I was managing a wireless retail store. I think I have been a bit too nline, probably should stat attending these again. Eceryone at thes things either runs someones biz or owns their own biz.

Wiz, great post, but do you have more details about this? Speaking engagements is easily the best way to generate leads because you automatically look like an authority. I just don't know how to get these engagements. Your insight on that would be appreciated.

did you at least put him on a monthly 5k plan?

I think the main message to everyone here is to not be afraid to go out and make connections. Having connections is the key to success for an offline SEO business.

The main point here is PROMOTE YOURSELF.
