Cool awesome.. BTW I hope you dont mind answering this question. How do you manage the payments and subscriptions? I mean paypal is out the question, so do you ask them to just deposit directly into your bank account ?

yeah,,I offered them 2% discount if paid by paypal but no success,none of the payments came through PP,,,,As I declared that its my personal website,It was easy to get direct transfer,DD,etc.
 
I was thinking of doing something like statehotels.com (or some variation) and having a subdomain for each major city...how well would that work? I can get the first page ranking for sure.

Thanks mate. But why did you even given PP as an option they wouldnt be able to pay since PP does not allow domestic payments. Shame we dont have other e wallets like Paypal exclusively for India or maybe I should search more

Most of them didn't...but few put up some conditions like "I want to see the progress" etc. They wanted to see traffic for a week or so...and luckily the site was getting sufficient amount of clicks to convince them.

Hope you had a tough time explaining all these stuffs to Hotel Managers:p

In the mail sent to them, you didn't mention your site URL?

They wanted to see the clicks for the particular page or the whole site?

Not that tough ;) just had to make them believe that listing their hotels would fetch more business...they didn't bothered about the clicks on the whole site,they were happy like hell to see xxx daily clicks on their page :D reacted like "Oh my hotel is that famous" :p lol..actually most of them were too excited to ask for proofs n all...coz the charges could be easily covered up by a single guest,I made them believe that guest would be referred from my site ;)

That is a great method, but more importantly, you got up off your arse and actually did something.

Hotels have money to burn. Great idea.

Taking action is the most imp part of IM ;) and that too in a well planned way..
 
I have an idea to jumpstart this project although I know this could be morally wrong and may only be short term, but what if you bought 10k-100k pageviews/unique visitors from someone in the services section and sent them those stats or screenshots. If they ask for keywords just say you can't release that information. Granted, they won't be getting any referrals from your website but hey why not.

What do you think? Have I missed an angle?

Well I guess you would do that but that would be kind of cheating wouldnt it be? If you can do it legitimately why do it the wrong way? Just my $.02
 
Great mind. I bet with little "push" the other hotels will be happy to jump in on monthly basis. :)
 
Interesting method. I just did a random search for travel destinations around the world and found [hotels in X] with 27,100 exact searches. Competitions seems pretty easy to beat on the SERPs as well.

Jeevs-- can you talk more on how you contacted the hotel managers? Where did you find the emails for the managers?
 
So you got the money which you spent on your holidays or you got x5. I have similar plans when I will visit dubai....... and my plans are not related to hotels. Good luck and BHers Rock.
