I recommend changing the settings for SearchTerms to delete unsearched words after every 7 or 10 days.

It's been working fine for me.

But wanted to ask you, in using the misspelling trick, does that mean that you have to go into your WP posts and sprinkle the actual misspelling in the post? Or is it enough to just have them as a block of tags as WP displays them?

I have sites with hundreds of pages and it would take a great deal if I had to put the misspelling in even 10% of the pages on each site.

Should I be nofollowing these tags? I was told that you should nofollow tags etc but I see amazon is follow..

I have made a 3 widget footer in which I have added the 3 widget's that way I can get my keywords in without spoling the design too much.

You changed your incoming search terms to 100.. I don't like the big clump of links in my content though... Is it possible to move this into the footer or something?

I recommend you add the misspellings to your tags from now on. Don't bother changing your previous posts because it just creates more work for you.

If you don't like having lots of incoming search terms then lower the amount, and also set a deletion date of about 5-10 days, so this way if the same keywords aren't used, then they are deleted.

I don't know if you can move it to the footer, but if you know html, etc. then I don't see why not.
 
Do you have to display the tags on each post for this to work? For example, say the theme I'm using does not currently display the tags a post was tagged with, must I add this into the theme for it to work, or will it work without adding it into the theme?
 
I have the same question, my theme doesn't show tags, i can mess with the css file to change that but for instance seeing 100 misspellings wouldn't look the site look good. Is it necessary to see them or just enable untick the noindex tags in seo? Just trying this today so hopfeully it will work but thanks for sharing either way.

Step 1: SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 Plugin

You add the "popular search terms", "recent search terms", and "popular terms in category" widgets in your appearance section.

You then set the configuration to show 100 instead of 10.

This plugin optimizes all your pages and posts for the search terms, and also shows you what people are typing into google to get to your page.

Example:

Let's say your page title is "Monkeys Eat Bananas On Trees In Hawaii"

This plugin will then show you what terms people searched for and arrived on your page. So it would show for example the keyterm "monkeys bored eating hawaii bananas and farting", the plugin at this point also optimizes that specific page for relevant keywords and exact search terms.

Then if someone searches "banana monkey lovers" and gets to your page, then it also optimizes for that keyword.

Now your not going to get 1,000 people searching for "monkeys bored eating hawaii bananas and farting", but when you have hundreds of keywords per page being optimized your traffic will increase.

Step 2: Misspelled Keywords

Your tags "lil wayne,jail,writing songs"

Put your post tags in the following format in the tool:

lil wayne,
jail,
writing songs,

Then you select "double letters" (works best) or "skip letters" (pretty good), and you click generate typos, then you get a bunch of misspelled keywords that you could use for tags.

These two steps implemented have increased my traffic by over 150%

Worth considering that this plugin also has other uses....there is a clear 'footprint' at work here which I have found quite useful to understand what search terms are genuinly being searched within any particular niche. You simply use the primary footprint (i.e. the default wording to display upon the recent searches box) to search and add your keyword.

This will return quite a good selection (how many depends upon the keyword) sites which are displaying the search terms used to reach the specific page. At least you know its an accurate search term which is something that you cannot always guarantee....you will also discover some interesting search terms people are using to find specific platforms (footprints) which can help expand your overall footprint list.

No Google Instant hasn't effect this particular site of mine.

It is now averaging about 5,000+ visitors per day, and the goal is to have it average 50,000+ visitors per day by January 2011.
 
I think it is possible to adapt this to a non-wordpress website :
I think we could use the mispelling tool, then we could put the list of mispelled words in a cloud tags at the end of a page of the site (or in the footer) all with a link pointing towards the homepage, and a little explanation saying something like "you could have reach this site typing one of those words"

Hi there, the man here.

For those of you using adsense, careful here. Nice plugin and thanks for the share, but it needs a keyword censor feature badly. Adsense accounts have been disabled because of the work of these type of plugins. I hope you are going through your keywords list and deleting the naughty ones somehow from your site (entertainment and health related sites are at high risk); especially now that Google is increasingly sending "whatta hell?" traffic to your sites.

Just delete folder with this plugin using FTP/cPanel.Wordpress will detect that there is no this plugin so it'll "uninstall" it and your admin panel will be unlocked.

This is what I have done recently:

Max Number Of Search Terms: 500

Convert search terms into links: Yes, link to post content

Display search counts for each search term: Yes

Add list automatically right after post content: Yes

Save popular search terms as tags ( monthly ): No

Auto cleanup unused search terms: 10 days

You see popular keywords in your category when you click on a specific category on your page, and it might take 24 hours because you need to get some searches to your site first.
