Okay, so ever since BusinessInsider (and viperchill ;b) did a story on viralnova I've seen copycats popping out of nowhere getting hundreds of likes on an incredibly short timeframe..

Business model is like Upworthy- share feelporn that triggers strong emotions to both share and click on headlines,
etc: "I Used To Want To Visit Australia Until I saw These 35 Photos. Now I'm Scared to Death.. OMG.",
"15 Wise Old Dogs Guaranteed to Melt Your Heart. #12 Is Hysterical.",
"What These Penguins do for Entertainment Is Very Unusual.. I Did NOT See That Coming."
"They Had To Kill A Random Person For Gang Initiation.. This Is Who They Chose."

Similar sites from recently

hellou.com
lifebuzz.com
worthytoshare.com

I don't think it will damage them to out their URLS, as they only drive traffic from Facebook.
I will admit I even considered to make a copycat in early january, but I would never be able to live a comfortable and operate a site like this at the same time.. (I feel abused and manipulated by their advertising after 90 seconds on their sites. but that's just me)

After search and social traffic, where do you think the big drivers will be in the future?

Well im always curious to know what Viper shares because i know that whatever he posts is gonna be top notch but regarding the below topic i seriously have no idea...

It would be interesting to know if google will actually continue to pay these type of sites when 100s more will pop up in the future..

Viral is always the big thing that can get overnight success to anyone... What's hard about that is planning and executing it.. Most of the times natural things go viral... No matter how hard you try, you can't force anything to go viral.. In the upcoming years, I think Viral is still one of the best ways to get overnight success.

Content farms are nothing new, but one thing to note is a lot of the bigger ones are changing layouts and starting to get rid of the "gallery" theme, and focus more on text, not just images (makes ad networks happier).

Sites like that are just a trend, all the time on facebook I'll see people sharing similar posts "omg u wont believe what this teen mom did to get so much fame!... I was shocked!"

Well those sites have a lot of traffic and all the content is copied from biggest news websites, like DM.

Ok, let's do it, but with a significant twist... i think i'll revamp thedailysmarter.com ;-) get ready!
