This fucking country

Personally i'm very happy with my third world country where i live now, no taxes, money comes directly to my bank accounts , my friend went to france he gets fucked up by the end of every year lol.

BUT, if they forced us to pay taxes , i will be the first person gets the fly ticket and move away.

Yes I can guarantee that 100%.

The tax rate is not 50% for individuals, it starts dropping rapidly as you surpass the maximum social security contribution basis. $120,000 a year a person in your country has an effective tax rate of 28%, at $1 million a year its 16.6%

It's 50%.

Sure maybe it's 1% if I make 1 Billion dollars per year.

But don't give me that shit.

It's 50% for individuals with no registered business (who are not making huge amounts of money, there you go).

Mhh. Rules like that exist in most countries, so it doesn't look unusual. It seems though that the implementation isn't very professional from what you are saying.

The rules are mainly there to protect freelancers who are otherwise often doing the same stuff as employees but without the added perks like social security, paid leave, etc.

The rules are there to fuck people over, the end :)

I'm with you, however, if they hit you with up to 10%, you can consider paying it and getting on with your life. You know, roads, schools, etc.

But if they want more than 10% then they should stop mismanaging their money and they won't need more than 10%. And if they refuse or are uncapable to stop mismanaging the money and want more than 10%... maybe we can talk about 11%... and if not then they can get it from someone else. Good-fucking-bye!

You don't even have to have a business as there is a maximum social tax contribution basis for your country, its not unlimited.

Maybe, but the whole thing they got going with charging people for unpaid taxes 5 years back up to 80%, they didn't take that into account.

They hit you with full tax + medical + pension + fine (amounts up to 80%) no matter how much money you were earning. You get hit with all of it, in full!

What's worth noting is that you can't go 5 years back and use that medical, and they also will not put in the system the 5 years so that it goes for your pension. But they charge you for both. Where in the world do you pay for something you'll never get, and can't get (in terms of medical)?

Also there's a law that stipulates that they are not allowed to charge more than 5 years back unpaid taxes. But there's people who received letters from the tax man where they charge them from 1st of January 2015 until even September 2020.

That's over 5,5+ years! LIARS!

Whatever happened to law, whatever happened to justice?

Oh well, you can trust them all you want, I'll take my business elsewhere thank you very much :)

But the question is, if I'm thinking of going where I'm treated best, I want ease. I don't want a bureaucratic slog.

I can't argue with that.

Instead of crying here, use those rules to your advantage and just tell your accountant or lawyer to patch something up & pay minimum taxes (10%) - it's Serbia, a 3rd world country, not the US, no one will come after you. In 3rd world countries, most freelancers get paid via Payoneer (or something else similar that gives you a debit card), withdraw $500 or so to the bank account in their home country and pay taxes on that amount, which are minimal because it falls under the 1st tax bracket. They withdraw the rest via ATM-s with the debit card.

I personally know plenty of freelancers that do this and nothing ever happened. Those countries have bigger problems than spending tax dollars to chase people to pay more tax dollars that they never intended to pay anyway.

No one is crying. I can't prove it to you, but no tears have been shed today. Not sure where you got that, but you're wrong.

I personally know 97,000 freelancers that never paid any taxes, and continued to not pay them because "nothing ever happened" and "no one will come after you." And now... well... they're fucked!

That mentality of just because it never happened it won't ever happen, well, look up Murphy's Law.

You can rely on "nothing ever happened" if you like, I have no problem with that. I would rather rely on "it's all legit, triple-checked by a lawyer and an accountant."

Sure, you would do much better spending your money on a comfy coffin .
Uhh, ok mate

Can't tell if that's some kind of ominous threat (lol btw if it is) or some other malarkey. Either way, thank you for the time it took to write that.

hahaha cute.

Where I live (Venezuela)...
  • The minimum wage is <$10 per month
  • Highest inflation rate in the world - Over 3,000% annually
  • Despite having the biggest oil reserves in the world, people have to wait in line with their cars for 12-24+ hours to get a full tank of gas
  • Despite having one of the biggest natural gas reserves in the world, half the country don´t have access to domestic gas
  • From the past 5+ years, we´ve suffered one of our worse electrical crises in our history. In march 7th 2019, we went for 110 hours straight without power. A few days later, 60+ hours. And, ever since we experience power shortages every single day and we spend anywhere between 2 to 8 hours a day without electricity
  • This year marks 10 years straight with at least 20,000 murders
  • And we also have one of the worse and slowest internet connections in the world (According to speedtest.net)
And, I can go on and on but these are by far our biggest issues we face every single day.

I feel for you and your people man! My country is fast heading in that direction too; totally incompetent f-ckers in charge

Im not from servia bro.

Cant you see my username? See the "ghost"? Ghosts have no concerns about countries and nationalities :p

I heard one of you guys, Macedonia, is really working on a fair and simple taxation ststem for entepreneurs, trying to attract foreign entepreneurs to the country.

I dont know, maybe ive been misinformed.

Don't know where did u hear that. But if Croatia/Serbia make changes, we will to. Because we always follow them :) Our politicians tried before to 'tax' us in different ways like paying double health care. New (old) government have some interesting progressive ideas like implementing Finnish education system, cannabis shops like in Amsterdam, but they also wanted to increase the tax rate.

It's not, its just people are freaking out because they can't get away with tax evasion anymore. The tax system is actually pretty awesome compared to most countries in Europe.

Serbia is actually one of the few countries left in the world that does not take part in the CRS (common reporting standard) which you can actually use to your advantage. Means that no information exchange is happening with them.

Riiiiiight.. nudge nudge wink wink.. not from Serbia. You're a ghost, got it.

But you have to agree that tax evasion is fun though. I can kind of see their point.

Yep, Seychelles too bro. They didn't sign jack shit to get foreign aid like other countries. Now you can throw as many information requests at them as you want.

I don't want a bureaucratic slog.
For God's sake, don't try and do business in Greece in that case.
