Third Party tools traffic varies a lot: SEMrush vs Ahref

I recently came across something quite surprising — a website showing only around 10K in traffic according to SEMrush, but over 443K in Ahrefs.

I understand that traffic estimates can vary between tools, but this seems like an unusually large gap.

Based on what I've observed (and some strong indications I have), I suspect there may be manipulated or "tempered" traffic involved — potentially using some blackhat methods to inflate the numbers shown in Ahrefs.

What are your thoughts on this? Any experiences you want to share regarding this incident?

Traffic tools use different data sources, so big gaps can happen, but extreme differences may also point to bot or manipulated traffic inflating one tool’s estimates.

I agree with you i have face these issues with SEMrush and Ahref on my case SEMrush was showing different amount of backlinks then ahref. i recommend you to always monitor your sites stats on GSC. and note that DA DR can be manipulated by freelancers you should look after that always. well mostly i got good results from ahref. i prefer Ahref for daily use

from what i've read, you can't really count on such tools as their primary goal is to sell you their services. I use clarity since I have a small website and it helps me monitor everything precisely and for free. If you want to spend some money, you can combine it with live chat. This allows you to get notified as soon as someone goes on your website. It also gives you the IP and the location of the use.

I think the recent differences are way more that it was a few months ago. This is so much concerning. I am having trouble in handling the situation with clients.
