THinking of using PPV to boost sales... tips for getting started on the cheap?

Helping a client boost sales and am combining a few methods, one of which will likely be PPV. I'm wanting to target pops on their larger competition's sites and see how the conversions go and how quality the emails are. Whats a good comapny/way to put their toe in the water cheaply to get them used to this idea?

btt, still think about if I should try it out.
