I was thinking about creating a freelance type of membership site to benefit those who advertise on "our favorite classified site". ;) I would bring in new posters by advertising in the job section and they would get paid a dollar per ad they post by the person they post the ad for. As the site owner, I would get paid off of small membership fees. I know there may be other sites like that out there that specialize in one certain type of freelance, and that is why im asking, your opinions. So what do you think? worth a shot or not?

whats your background? Are you a programmer or designer? I ask because i am working on something similar although not close enough to be competition i am running into situations where without having a good friend doing the coding for free, it would be very expensive to create such a platform and do it right.

No, im not a programmer or coder. Im gonna have to either use a website builder or pay someone to do it. but, we could possibly team up on something somewhere in the middle and do both maybe... Its an idea :D

sounds boring to me but im not saying you can't do it.. idk you need to make the site legit man as legit as facebook

It would be very legit. There would hopefully be hundreds of website owners that would need the service, and they could pay one person from each city to post for them, or however they want to do it. I actually thought of this because I wanted to hire 1 person from each city to post for me, but just one ad per day would only be $30 a month for that person, so I thought, if they could post one ad for 20, 30, or even 100 people per day, it would be more beneficial to them.

"Worth a shot," yes, there's potential. "Worth the investment," that's solely up to you. Developing that will be expensive. i.e. based on what you've said, I would probably start it at $4k. You could outsource to a different country of course.

I know it could get pretty expensive, so money isnt really the issue. Would the investment be safe, is the main question I have running through my mind. I dont mind spending aslong as I get atleast my investment back. :D

If you are looking for assurances, then i would advise against it. And i dont say that to dissuade you. I would do a bit of market research to at least nail down your demographic and how to reach them as well as possible competition (also not buying at all counts as a competitor) Then and this is actually equally as important as building the thing is putting together a plan for what happens when the thing is finally built. I see so many people struggle and go through the battle of building these platforms only to be standing scratching their heads after its built with no plan. Building it doesnt count (so to speak) Building is a given...what happens once its built?
