I have been doing tons of research into this, and have previously payed to use other peoples PBNs, however, I think what I have read, is that it's going to be a much more cost effective, and much more control, if I start a pbn for myself.

I am thinking about starting small, and then building when I get some value back (I hope at least)

I am going to have a go at scraping my own domains, from what I read, I need to be looking for tf 20+ ?

Also, this is hypothetically speaking, lets say my domain has all the right metrics, but I have a weak domain. To juice up my pbn, would I add tier 2 or 3.. I know the point of buying a domain, is for it's link already but since I am new, I am guessing that chances are going to be high, that I wont ace it first time around.

What do you guys think ?

I think own PBN is only Private network, rest are never private they are shared network.

Firstly, GOOD MOVE! Having your own private blog network is much better.

I am a big proponent of buying domains that don't have the best metrics ever and then building a tier 2 and tier 3 with FCS as a tier 2 and GSA as a tier 3. I can take a bad domain I buy for a few bucks and make it one that would cost $100 in about 3-4 months. By then my site is ranking really well.

Just be sure to place your sites on different servers with different framework and be sure to privatize the domain ownership.

its gonna be less cost effective but have full control over it and quality as well

I think you should be using the search as this topic has been covered like a gazillion times by now and you post ads nothing...

That is what i think....

I agree with everyone that starting your own PBN is a great move. You have more control and the risk factor is a lot lower.

I would object to your TF20+ statement. I've dealt with a ton of domains so far, and one thing i have noticed is that no single metric can say if a domain is good or bad. It's up to you to take a look at the backlink portfolio and decide if it's worth pursuing.

Anything above DA20+, TF10+ is worth analyzing manually. I can't tell you how many times I've found domains with similar metrics that were packing 4-5-6 high authority links linking to them.

Starting a own PBN is the good choice

Good thought but hire a expert so that nothing goes wrong when you launch your PBN. its not cheap but you can increase your earning using PBN.

There are pros and cons in building PBNs and if you will do it right you'll be getting the benefits of PBN without risks.

Your own PBN is much more powerful for you and yes, you should build one. I also started small now I own a lot bigger one that I use. It's a good way to rank sites these days.

I think it's useful when you have much more then 20 sites. Besides don't you afraid google ban?

Good PBN sites already have a tier 2. This is why people build them. And when you have one, you'll realize from an opportunity cost stand point, it makes way more sense to find more PBN sites then to juice already existing tier 2s. I know sourcewave promotes this idea of juicing already juiced domains. I may test it in the future. But common sense tells me if you need to juice a domain.... the domains not that juicy to begin.

As for TF20+..... just use metrics as a signal to tell you "I need to analyze backlinks". Sometimes it doesn't make sense why a domain has a TF20. Maybe it has a few deep links and they're not that powerful. Maybe it's a spammed domain. Then maybe you see a TF10 with 36 juicy links closer to the root... I'd go for the TF10.

Overall you sound a bit apprehensive and confused which is natural. I was far more confused than you when I started. Turning everything into a potential problem.

Even when I started linking and saw no results I thought I wasted money. I actually removed all the links, added more content then forgot about the domains kinda like "fuck this". I came back 4-5 months later. Was like "why do I have these domains if I'm not gonna use them" and dropped 1 link. A few weeks later I'm seeing nothing but green arrows. I wait for ranks to stabilize, drop another link, all green arrows once again. Suddenly my brain flipped. It's like all these doors opened to a new and beautiful world. I felt "high" for days and still do tbo. I was ordering $200-$300 homepage packages on other test sites that weren't doing much of anything. Yet just a few links on my own small PBN was unbelievably more effective. I could completely control link velocity. The relevancy of the domains. Everything. My links weren't getting brushed off homepages and weren't on the same page with 30 other sites. It was just pure, raw, link steroid juice driving my ranks.

That's why you should do it. Read all of AlexThePBNDudes thread. Expect frustration early on. I think all noobs go through a denial phase like "this ain't gonna work". But if you get decent midtier hosting, do your work finding good domains, populate the domains with relevant content.... take it slow but persistent, you will love it.

I also recommend aging the domains. This is something Alex doesn't recommend but Netmoney talked about how he just throws content on domains then leaves them for 6 months before doing anything. 6 months is a little long for me. But the sites I work on now I won't use for 3-5 months. It only creates a delay in the beginning. And I haven't done enough testing by any means. I just know when I dropped links on the slightly aged domains the effect was totally different. There was virtually no dancing at all. Everything moves up. And most importantly when it DOES move up it doesn't move back down. Which was not the case when my domains were just reregistered.

What kind of results were you getting when you were buying links from other PBNs? Just curious, because I have some sites that I would buy links for.
