Thinking about start my first blog

Hi guys,

I'm considering starting my first blog. I never started any website before, I want to start blog to share my thoughts and opinion and to network with similar minded people.

I also too want to earn some money from it, but not sure how should I do it. Ads? how does that work? not sure what would be best option for me.

I'm thinking to be very active on social network and to attrack traffic that way.

I want this website to be hobby, and to be learning experience too. I want to have fun with it, not another job.

What do you think? How should I setup this website? What services should I use?

Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Thank you so much for this. It is what I was looking for. Especially the part with hosting and stuff, since I don't really know anything about it.

I'm kind of conflicted, because I want to have website in tech and car niche which is super competitive so I feel demotivated a little. On the other hand I already decided I want to write about stuff that enjoy writing about, but still want to have some traffic and people reading it.

You should follow my guide and do some research into your prospective keywords to see what the competition is actually like.

If it’s too tough you could always look at a small sub-section of that niche so that you’re differentiating yourself a little.

Also, learn to use the right tools like ahrefs and semrush.

It sounds like you have the best strategy, to treat as a hobby first, before a business.
Takes much of the stress out of running things. Best of luck.
Get started, get your website blog finished (not including your weekly/monthly post updates) to about 20-30 articles.
Then you should be ranking for some keywords by then, after a few months.
Register your site using the upload file to server method on ahrefs, to get full reports.

As mentioned above, you have to SELECT THE RIGHT NICHE

Once you picked out your target niche, use Google keyword planner tool and find keywords related to your niche

Search for sites that rank for your those keywords

How strong are they? Can they lead you to LESS COMPETITIVE sites?

Compile a massive list of competitor sites and run them through AHREFS or SEMRUSH or some other SEO tool

What you're looking for is something like this:

Low amounts of backlinks and decent / growing search traffic volume

Next, do a SITEMAP rip - by entering (DOMAIN)/sitemap.xml

Click on the POST sitemap

You'll see how many TOTAL pieces of content they have

Shoot for less than 50

Then load their MID-RANGE (not top ranked) URLs and scrape the keywords they rank for

Load these into Google and look for "People Also Asked"



and 'People also searched for'

example:



Incorporate the most relevant of these keywords into your content - preferably as subheadings

Use lots of photos and tag them with your keywords

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY

Deliver solid value with every blog post

- must answer questions
- must give the reader a POSITIVE EXPERIENCE
- must call the reader to action

THIS ALSO MEANS:

Look at the WORD COUNT of the TOP 5 results - BEAT THEM - your stuff should be

- the longest
- most up to date
- multi-media (include video or infographic or diagram)
- easiest to SCAN
- easiest to READ

I'm already planing to write about what I like, so it doesn't make sense for me to spend too much time on KW research. I don't know onsite stuff, so this is going to be learning for me. I do plan to invest money for those low competition KWs, to grab some organic traffic.

So you are saying that after a few months and 30 to 40 articles my website should rank for KWs? That's sounds very awesome, I'll definitely look to hit up some easy KWs.

Yea that makes sense. I suppose if you are writing about something you like then you're automatically going to be differenciating yourself from the competition as your content will probably have a lot more value than the stuff that others are just outsourcing to writers.

This is probably stating the obvious but make sure you still do research to find keywords to target that have search volume even if they are difficult in terms of competition - I've made the mistake myself in the past and end up with tonnes of content but still not getting much traffic at all.

I'm afraid I'll get demotivated if i don't see some results, so I'll definitely do some KW research.

Since I'm planing to write about two different niches, cars and tech maybe I should start 2 different websites?

I think greed will get you off your first intent to write for passion.. Just create a blog and write from your heart forget about the cash.. It will come later on regardeslly

There are multiple threads on making money with blogs through afiiliate, display ads, CPA, review and sponsored posts methods
Don't worry about monetization in your first month. Concentrate on providing value to your readers.

You will not see much readers in the first 6 to 8 months (that's a long time!!!), so you need to continue posting quality content to tell Google you're in it for the long game.
But, before you start, the first thing to do is niche analysis and the second most important is keyword analysis. So, please do them right and everything will fall in place in less than a year.

Congratulations mate, At first, choose the niche that you have interested in the trend topics, and do proper keyword analysis, and it will be better to choose the low competition long-tail keywords.
