ThinkBinary's Guide To Not Get Scammed [After Being Scammed TWICE In 1 Week]

This is a SERIOUS & SAD Topic - Getting Scammed

Hi BlackHatters,

This past week just has not been my week to say the least! As you can see from the Thread Title I got Scammed TWICE...yes 2 times in one week!

So first I want to point out these 2 incidents and expose these people, so hopefully know one else gets scammed out of their money!

#1 YouTubePVAStore (Name According To PayPal Jennifer Morin)

#2 SMBlur (Company Name According To Paypal)

This person added me on skype off a thread where I asked if someone can provide me installs. $150 Paid via paypal and no response after that. I opened a paypal dispute and the person replied on paypal saying they delivered and I want more and that the order is completed. I uploaded all the proof to paypal and it is being review so hopefully I get my money back.

A few things I have learned out of this experience and want to share with the hope I help some people from avoiding to get scammed!

#1 Never ever post your skype ID publicly on any Thread/Post. I also don't recommend having the add to skype button available. This stops non BHW members from being able to add you via skype! Rather request that they PM you if they can provide you the service/product that you need. If you do decide to have the add to skype button always ask for them to provide their BHW username and then to send you a PM to confirm it.

#2 Look for the red flags. How many people they have on skype, are their profile showing male if they have a female name and profile pic or visa verse. Ask for their website url and or email. If its a free email account be careful!

#3 Do a simple google and BHW search to see if anyone has reported them as scammers using their email, name, skype id or website url.

#4 Check if their paypal account is verified. Not that it really makes it more secure but adds a little trust before sending money.

#5 Most IMPORTANT! Never Ever send them a payment on paypal as a gift or donation! (If they ask you to do that it should be a red flag) Let them send you an invoice via paypal and make sure they state the service/product details on it! This allows you to make a dispute. Sending donations or gifts does not allow you to make a dispute!

#6 This ties up with #1 nicely. Check how long they have been a member on BHW for and read their most recent posts and check their Itrader Score. It wont hurt to ask them to refer a member that have successfully done business with in the past!

Well I hope this help out people from being scammed! Because IT SUCKS! Leave a reply if you have been scammed by these 2 people or anybody else!

I was scammed about 2 years ago for ordering some MNS on WF. I can't remember but I think it was close to a $300 loss. Sad case for me, even I followed all your advice, but I guess I was just unlucky. The seller had some great initial review on WF, also was on the forum for about 2 years and had a significant amount of posts and the service was around for a couple of months. He had a nice website that promoted his service too.

We even communicated through Skype a lot and seemed like a really nice person with a picture of him and his kid. After about 3 weeks he stopped replying, to me. Although I had access to the MNS, none of them were completed. Then his thread on WF started to get all the negative reviews from all the other buyers that have also been cheated.

Hi QOH,

Sorry to hear about your bad experience! Yea sometimes no matter what you do you end up being scammed. Something I should have added is to make sure you get your service/product within 45 days so the option to make a dispute is still available. Also take screenshots and save them if needed later.

wow, thanks for the share OP; I remember almost 2 months ago when one of my first online transactions ever was a $100 scam and I just went to my corner and went into fetal position. but i guess $100 is more to me than $300 to u cuz I'm a broke college kid lol

I've been scammed a few times - it sucks ay!
The rules I set for myself now are simply not dealing with people that have no reputation - really Im talking about BHW, but I dont deal with anyone who doesnt have a decent amount of posts and/or decent itrader score.

Of course that doesnt guarantee that I wont get scammed, but it shortens the odds a little.

I got scammed by an extremely reputable person on some doge forum for 100,000 dogecoin a few months ago.

Other than that, can't remember of another time I was successfully scammed.

wow man, crypto currency scams... That getting more and more popular by the day. With the benefits comes the risk I suppose ey.

Good Tips OP, Here's my tips

1) As a general rule, dont buy outside BST also works
2) If buying outside BST (say hire a freelancer section - Either work only with VIPs or Don't Pay Upfront).
3) Get a BHW VIP account, when you're a vip, Hire a freelancer section people will agree to work for you without upfront.

Thanks mate... Appreciate the Tips. The paypal dispute for the $150 is being reviewed by paypal now, so might get an outcome tomorrow or in this week.

So an update... Got an email from paypal saying they are declining my dispute as they do not cover virtual products! WTF?? So despite the evidence they gave the scammer the money. How pathetic from PAYPAL! We need an paypal alternative for safer online purchases. $150 down the drain!

Doing business with somebody that contacts you over skype is crazy.
You should always do at least basic checks on anybody you do business with.
That site has been registered less than a month.
The site even gives off a shitload of popups, that should have been a warning.

Edit: just looked at the skype profile - says "he" is a male...why in the world would "he" have a Jennifer email. You could have avoided these scams using commons sense and 3 seconds.

A little due diligence goes a long way, that guy looks like he has been scamming for years.
Starts a website, milks it then moves onto the next one.

Yes common sense... I saw that but thought nothing of it because 90% of the people on here use fake names, pics etc. In the moment you do not see all the flags! So its easy for you to say common sense and 3 sec. I tend to trust people to easy and this is the first time I have been scammed in 4 years online. So its a first and I learned from it. Most Important imo.
