Okay guys. I have done the search but I couldn't come up with a topic to discuss this.

I am one of those that believe in original content so I have writers write for me. However, as many of you know, posting great content is just NOT GOOD ENOUGH to drive traffic to the blog.

I was reading online and I came across postings that recommend steps like the following after posting a new blog post:

The WHITEHAT WAY of driving traffic (will come eventually but will take months if not years)

1) Keyword optimize your post - yes but how is this going really help drive the traffic immediately to your site?
2) Syndicate your content - Is RSS feed enough?
3) Shorten Your URL - If only sharing on social platforms like twitter, etc. How will this help if you don't have a huge social network to share your articles with?
4) Update Your status on social networks with new blog post - okay what if my social network is small?
5) Social Bookmark - again what if my social network is small?
6) Comment on related blogs - okay fine but it takes time and lots of time.
7) Reach out to other bloggers - okay yes but it is not going to happen right away..

Now Let me ask you, what is the BLACKHAT WAY? How do you drive traffic to your new blog postings?

I opened this thread to discuss about some real ways of driving traffic to new blog posts. I am spending ton of money on content. I want to drive traffic to articles.

I want to get at least 500 people to visit each post every week. How do we go about doing this?

Let's discuss. Please post you ideas below and help all of us. Thank you.

BH
- email spam
- fb like hijack
- soc network spam
- ad site listing
- comment spam
etc

I don't think there is any immediate way to drive traffic from blog posting. You can post your content to various sites and then wait for the results, if you get comments and links for your website your next step should be blog posting again to retain that amount of traffic.

Have you thought of backlinkin your post?

If you want immediate traffic you could find related blogs and leave comments... but that's too time consuming.

Actually, what is the purpose of the blog post? Why do you want to drive traffic to it? I mean, what do you want your visitors to do?

Thanks for all the feedback.

Keep it coming.

Basically I thought this would teach alot of us how to make sure our content does not go to waste after posting a good article on the blog.

@Geshwinn - goal is to make sure there is an immediate rush of traffic to fresh content. I.e. how do we make sure that Wordpress autoping is working so that the article is indexed fast enough? All that kind of stuff.

You should treat this like you should treat any other website you want to rank. There are gray hat activities you could do, but you just need to build quality backlinks to your site from high PR article websites and web2.0 properties, just be smart about how you link them to your site and you'll see traffic in no time.

Agreed! Back-linking like usual.

some good tips you know, i'll keep them in mind when posting new content.

What else would we say other than "backlink that URL!!" ?
