Do you use the Chrome browser in your PC?
Yes, BUT I have not logged into these sites in over a year and since then have built a new PC.

I have 2 website with spun content (Using free rewriter) they both are ranking well and earning xx$. and both are in GWT.

Like "Nut Nights", I have sites with almost cut and paste content and still doing well. Maybe it is a new roll out hitting a certain niche?

Out of curiosity, what exactly would classify as "Thin content" from your experiences and on average how many backlinks can cause a "manual action" warning in GMT?
And curious about the Amazon stores too, did you have you links cloaked? And if so is it clearly visible on your site that you're using an Amazon store?

The update is not about content only. They hit sites with aff. links. Mostly Amazon. Every year before christmas.I am glad i switched to bing and yahoo last year.

I've got many sites with aff links, including Amazon but I cloak them and have no problems whatsoever with Google. Do the other sites with before-Christmas penalties do the same?
Curious also, what do you mean you're glad you switched to Bing and Yahoo last year? For ranking in search?

Cloaking the links won't mean much because it is a Manual Penalty which means a reviewer like you or me visits your site and check if the site is an affiliate site or ecommerce site. Clicks add to button link and see where it is landing. For amazon aff. sites they end up going to amazon.com at the end.
Yeah ranking on yahoo/bing. It is much more stable=)

Ye, know that feeling they always seem to roll something out just before Christmas.
My amazon affiliate sites got hit on 12/9 too. Has anyone sent a reconsideration request yet? I've made a lot of changes to my site, added "nofollow" to all outbound links and wrote new articles that do not have any affiliate links in them. I'm hoping I can make a good case to get back up in the ranks.

For all of you that thinks using chrome is part of the problem, well shit, if i bought links from a link builder that use chrome (how would you even know what browser they use?) then the entire network would be hit. If I paid for web design, all the sites this guy built will be hit. If I had my on-page checked by yet another SEO, it will be hit.
So, no. It's not about the chrome. I can tell you all other browser out there is shit when doing web development. As much as I hate to rely on chrome, i hate to use any other browsers out there.
About google hitting on affiliate sites, that's one part that confuses me as to how that is considred thin. For one, it gives the searcher plenty of information more than amazon itself could with it's paid reviews. When people buy the product that's reffered by the affiliate, it means the user got what they wanted, which is anything but thin/spam content.
So, nope. It's a bunch of factors, not just "oh it's because you did this". You can dig out every loophole that you've missed, but the answer is simple: It's because Google.
