i'm using this trick since i started "torrenting" (~4 years) and i've never got caught anywhere, i'm not using this on the vault tho because i don't use it very often
yea, i guess, you can get caught, if somebody reviewing your account and sees, wtf this guy is doing, what's this plenty of snatched torrent and no download, but only this way (because after you deleted the tracker+passkey the tracker cannot count towards the amount of downloaded/uploaded data of yours), so technically there's no proof that you're "cheating"
but if you maintain an account with a relatively good ratio (let's say above 1 and not some irreal above 1000 ), which is not too hard using this trick , i don't think anybody will review your account so close
and of course you may also water down this trick with a few real downloads

but it's your turn, how you want to maintain your ratio, it's just one piece of little trick which can be useful sometimes

i use azureus and if you kill the torrent then the file is also deleted.

Just save the .torrent file to disk then (which you do from your webbrowser) and edit it to remove passkey..

Anyway, I find it really odd that any respectable tracker software would allow download without passkey, that basically means that anyone can access the content.

i'm afraid it's working only with clients like the older versions of utorrent (utorrent 1.7.7), which allows you to edit /remove/modify your passkey when you hit details
after you removed your passkey the peers are suddenly disconnecting but it is just for a few seconds, they are coming back shortly and from that point, you're "invisible" for the tracker
