thesis give you powerful customization at core level because i have used this theme and still using.But you have to add all extra graphics and work on color etc..but you can make site as you want...
as for catalyst i have seen it..its also good same as thesis..may be having some additional feature..i didn't use this so can't say anything..

I have both and id say Catalyst All the way, its just so much faster to do decent customisations with Catalyst, Thesis also tend to be slow even if they have made some updates now recently to the better. Thesis is Fiat while Catalyst is Mercedes if we would compare to cars

Well I haven't tinkered around with Catalyst much, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I find Thesis flexible enough for any need I might have.. it has a pretty rich deisgn customization menu, a cool multimedia box.. although sometimes you have to fix some padding issues for example by manually editting the .css - it's pretty simple stuff.

+1 for thesis theme as it is so flexible that it can accommodate almost anything as well.

Another vote for Catalyst here.
Is is much much better than Thesis on so many levels.
If all you want is a blog, or a site that looks largely like a blog, then thesis is good enough.
For other sites, particularly business sites that look like business sites, and do not look like blog conversions, then Catalyst is definitely the way to go.
